General Mid-Budget ESB built

Getting a little closer to finish the vest... Did some sewing today. The vest still needed the slot for the chest electronic cable. I´m still learning to handle a sewing machine (the last results to sew a button-hole with the machine didin´t went well), so I did all the stitches by hand. ;)

Yesterday my new little toy arrived...

Portable loudspeaker with USB 2.0 and TF ports. Plays MP3 files in a loop directly fom an USB stick of TF card. Included is a headphone. Outputpower: 8 W. Running on Li-on battery, which is charged by USB.

Here´s a little video of what I´ve done today:

What you here is the "Boba Fett suit sound". To protect the loudspeaker from shaking in the side pocket, I used foam material and built a housing.

I bought it at ebay. Offered by a german online store. The price 20,-Euro (22,-USD), free shipping within germany. I can send you the ebay-link via pm, if you want.

While watching STAR WARS - The Empire Strikes Back... I did some hand-stitching... industrial velcro will be holding the two side pouches on the inside of the ammo belt.

Also the time had come to change the all-aluminium beacon into an ESB beacon. ;)
First of all I used a primer, so the spraypaint will stick on the aluminium. For the maincolour I used a combination of glossy Gold and an antique matt Gold. The end of a woodstick I wrapped in papertowel and sticked it into the beacon, so the inside will not be filled with the paint, I can hold it in my hand and turn it while painting AND can stick in the ground while drying. :)

Today I got mail... ;) I was lucky to get a fibreglas/resin copy taken from an original nemrod holster. A lot of work to do, but it will be so much fun! :)

Sprayed grey filler paint on the white holster rawcast. After drying I put on the first layers of filler onto all the edges, holes and imperfections on the topside.

More to come...

More work on the jp beacon. This time the light gets an hausimg to protect it from shaking inside the aluminium beacon. Therefore I used some material laying around, like an old plastic pen refill, a NERF soft dart and some tape.

Dirst I had to get rid of the old ink, then drilled the hole wider to get the cables of the LED fit in.
P8080754.jpg

Now I can "screw" the plastic pen refill inside the beacon bottom.
P8080756.jpg

Cut the pen refill and the NERF dart, which is hollowed on the inside, to the correct length. The LED will sit in the end of the softfoam dart and on top of the pen refill.
P8080757.jpg

The pen refill get wrapped with the tape, so it will fit smoothly inside the softfoam dart. The reason is, to be able to change the LED, if it´s not working anymore. ;)
P8080760.JPG

As you can see, the LED sits directly beyond the vents of the beacon top.

That´s the result.

So... on the final route to get the gauntlets ready to troop. ;)

I installed in the back area a clip-system combined with elastic band, so I can leave the clips closed and just slip in, or open the clips and gauntlets complete. In the front area I glued rare earth magnets. In the worst case, if evrything fails, I still got the hinge-close-system. :)
