Wow! Really love the paint job on that helmet. And I like that you chose to do that light green on the dome and lower cheeks. Just a side note: I'm not that sure anymore that the rear keyhole has that orange color, maybe it is silver/metal, similar to the Sandy type helmets - Pre-Pro #2, Promo #2 and ROTJ. Also the right ear (rangefinder side) is not green but dark gray. ...I have to update those stencils.

Thanks for the kind words! That's interesting about the colors...I really wish that there were more photos taken of the PP1 helmet. I guess they had no idea we would all be trying to reproduce it someday!

The devil is in the details...
Borden connectors from a 3/8" dowel.
My perspex block cut from 3/4" plexiglass I bought on ebay. I used double side tape to hold it down to a larger board while i cut the small angled pieces on a chop/miter saw...then sanded the back down on a belt sander to fit the contour of the range finder housing (my knuckles barely made it). I used plastiweld to glue the plexi together.
The block is held in with a small cleat (to hook behind) on the back/right side and a magnet/washer on the front/left side. I'm working on making a miniature tilt-switch light setup to cram in there. Ive seen one for sale here, but I (think) can make my own for 10-15 bucks...besides, the price of just buying everything is part of why I'm scratch building.

Thanks RafalFett! I think my phone's camera is lightening things up a bit too much. They actually look closer to what you describe than what my photos show. The red I used was Humbrol #73 and the orange is #82 per the various templates and paintup tuts on the site here.

I should've noticed this sooner. As the poster above me said, you nailed it! I just started my own RWH scratch build, though I may have to try sintra later on at some point after seeing this. That is one fantastic looking PP1, and I hope your son realizes just how lucky he is to have you as a dad!
