Superjedi's SE for Mandomiggs

Here's a look at the finished right mandible!
This pretty much completes all the basic painting on the helmet.
Next I'll start with the weathering effects and I'll work on the ears.

Here are a couple of shots of the tape repair effect below the killstripes. It's almost unnoticeable at certain angles, but it becomes visible when the light hits it right.

Did some varied work today. To begin with, I laid down the base colors on the RS Props metal ears.

Next, I did some weathering on the helmet, including the final white drip on the outer right cheek, and the dark stain on the dome above the RF ear.

I also weathered the Elstree Borden piece by giving it a "muddy" wash and then adding the silver chipping.

A couple more various steps here.
I added the "grease stains" on the dome.

I also masked and airbrushed the black arch on the RF ear cap.

Once it's dry I'll mask for the white part.

Sure. With metal ears I give the portions that will be painted a light scuff sanding. Then I wipe them down with rubbing alcohol to make sure any oils or residue is cleaned away.
I mask off the sections that will remain bare metal and then hit the parts with a light coat of self-etching primer. After that I paint them like I normally would.
