Superjedi's SE for Mandomiggs

Helmet number 50?? Helmet number 50!!
Yes, I'm beginning another SE helmet build for Mandomigs. This one is an MF kit and it arrived with some additional bling! We've got a set of machined aluminum ears from RS Props, and a metal Borden piece from Elstree. Nice!
Mandomigs was very industrious and did the prep on the helmet before he sent it my way. He also pre-assembled the RF and fit the ears.
So all I really had to do was drill out the molded-in Borden and then get on to the fun stuff... painting!
Here's how the kit arrived the other day.

Let me apologize for misspelling Mandomigs in my first post. Sorry about that!

I got the first color down on the rear panels. Not terribly exciting, but things will pick up pretty quickly.

I masked the panels and airbrushed the dark green today. These are the basic shapes. I'll go back in with a fine brush and adjust some of the shapes and add the smaller details.

I did the adjustments on the left panel and did some fading on the green areas. I'll do the same on the right panel next.

I did the same tweaks on the right panel: adjusting the shapes and weathering the green.
Now the rear panels are ready for some gray and silver!

I got the left panel finished. What a mess!

The majority of the work on the right panel is in doing the big scrape. There are so many tiny chips and scratches.

Fantastic stuff as always Eric! Helmet no. 50??! That back panel detail is some of my favourite areas on the ESB bucket...Actually, those red mandibles are rather good too...nah actually...the whole helmet
I've been meaning to ask you this for some time -- are you planning on getting a set of the Archive-X acrylics to try out once they're finally released? I'm so excited to experiment with those! I definitely need to get myself a set to go along with my Floquil and Polly Scale collection!

I do plan on getting a few of the Archive-X acrylics. I've been waiting a long time for them to be released! I know, so have a lot of people.
I read somewhere that Guy is planning to sell them with a minimum order of 5 bottles. That suits me fine, as there are about 4 or 5 colors I'm interested in trying.

I finished the remainder of the right panel.
Next up will be the dome and cheeks green.

Green time! Once this dries it'll be time to start on the dome damage.

Dome damage is in work. The back of the dome is one of my favorite areas to work on.

Working around the dome now. Next I'll jump over the ear arch and do the cat scratch area. That's a fun one to work on.

Here's the turn signal area and just the barest beginnings of the SE damage on the dome. There will be a lot more of that!

Dentage! This is the dent itself. I'll be working on the "tail" next.

The entire dent area is finished, along with a bit more of the SE damage. It's gonna get messy!

Speaking of messy... I've started adding the black gunk all over the left side of the dome. There will be some more, but what remains overlaps the killstripes, so I'll add it after those are painted.

Still working on the left side of the dome. With the imprints of the damage preserved in the surface, I can do many of the tiny chips around the killstripes before I even paint them on. So cool!

I have pretty much finished working the top portion of the dome. Lots of nice SE scuffs and scratches up here.
