Pinkflamingos6 ROTJ Build

Looking good! I would think it should pass basic. If you wanted to get more detail, you could take some blue and go into the large silver area on the bottom of the center band to help create more individual scratches. It‘s got a very defined line that is sticking out a bit.
You're absolutely right! I meant to go back to that section but I totally forgot. Thank you for your feedback

DeathProof
I actually was gonna bring up the same thing. I was kinda waiting to see how this piece finished out. Which looks really good by the way!
 (y)

But I do believe DeathProof is talking about right here....

You have some there, but it could do with a little more in one opinion. (And maybe mines is not the best example either - hahaha!)

Best,

I'm ready to jump out a window with these knots... never thought something so simple would be so frustrating. After hours of trying I was able to get this knot tied up. While it definitely is smaller than the full knot, I don't think it looks too bad... from a distance lol

Knot too bad from a distance, but it's not too pretty up close.

Anybody have any tips or suggestions or it's just practice until I get it right?

I'm almost at my ropes end but I don't know where else to get a set of passable braids.

Thanks!

I actually had to go back to my thread. And then realized that I pre-tied them onto a pencil and then transferred the knot over to the braid. In addition, I used a drop of super glue on the ends to have it held altogether as I don’t actually tie it off. (Same with the colored thread)

Yeah, it’s not a fun task for sure.

I've been trying to tie them on a wooden dowel then transfer it over like you mentioned in your thread. I've even considered designing a bead that resembles the knot and 3D printing it just to avoid tying the knot lol

I was writing the same thing as Iron, but I type too slow. :p

I tied mine on a pencil as well and then transferred them onto the braid.

Yep, it certainly is a bee-otch for sure! I will tell you this though. After taking your time and it looks halfway decent, once transferred. Is probably one of the greatest feelings in the world. For me, it ranks right next to having completed my JetPack painting and I having it look (in my eyes) perfect!

Well, I think I'm done. Got two decent looking knots tied up. I think they'll do the trick until I can upgrade to a better set of braids. But for the time being these will have to do. So glad it's over with lol

now on to getting the braids all finished up while I eagerly await some Mike M gloves I was able to get my hands on

PinkFlamingos6
There ya go! Those look great too! Mike M. did me up some great gloves. I’m sure you’ll like em’!

I remember at the Halloween event I was at last year, this kid who had on a Boba Fett costume (a nice setup too) was in awe by mine and he goes “Oh wow! You even have the gloves!” Most usually comment on the Armor, Gauntlets, Helmet or Jetpack. But his little mind ran to the gloves! Hehehe!

Boba does have some cool gloves!

Where did you get your braids from?

Iron,
I love it! That's so funny! Although I think you may have underestimated the number of times I tried to tie the knots lol

Shortfuse,
I got the braids from a seller on ebay called Katarra8. They're the same ones Iron used to make his braids. From what I've seen they might be your best bet for an affordable diy set of braids. To get the full set for ROTJ, you have to buy both her ROTJ and ESB sets.

So, now that each individual braid is almost finished I'm playing around with the final grouping/stack up of the braids.

Trying to match the CRL and other pictures of Woodman's braids this is what I'm thinking. Keep in mind I'm working with what I got for now and I plan on jumping on a set of braids from Woodman or JoJoFett at the first chance I get. I'm also hoping my garrison can cut me a little slack overall since there aren't any active ROTJ Fetts trooping.

So I'm thinking the blonde braid on the bottom, closest to the vest. Then the dark brown and black side by side. Then the lighter brown on top of the stack.

Does this sound right?

I know I still need to shorten the gray braid and attach it to the black one in the back. And in the picture the scissors are the top of the set where I plan on attaching some velcro to keep them in place.

What do y'all think?

PinkFlamingos6,

I wasn’t actually asking for myself, Iron and I got ours from that same seller about the same time. I was going to suggest getting them from her. I contacted her and she made me a custom braid with the black and blonde strands together and the other colors needed to make the ROTJ braids. I then put them together myself.

Aw shucks that would have been perfect! I think I'll stick with what I have for now. I'm really hoping to secure a set of Woody braids, fingers crossed he answers me back lol

Thank you for the tip though!

Got my braids all finished up. Pretty happy with how they came out overall. Hoping to get my vest on tomorrow for a better idea of the fit/placement but I think they look good so far.

I also think my right shoulder is currently sitting a little lower than it should be right? I believe the shoulder bells sit at different heights on the vest.
