ROTJ Boba Fett - any suggestions?

New Hunter
Hi everyone,

Thought I'd share where my ROTJ Fett is at after 2 years of slowly upgrading bit by bit. I'd love to join my local 501st garrison some day so I'm striving for accuracy - next on the list of priority being new boots and perhaps spats (I think they could be more blue-ish grey and a bit smaller). Anyways, I'd love to hear any kind of feedback on areas of improvement and or things I could do differently when kitting up (shame I didn't manage to get any side/rear angle pics this time, sorry).

Wow what a big difference from your 2023 version!

If 501st legion is a goal for you, I think you are well headed down the right path!

Are you somewhat handy with a sewing machine or know a helper who is?
You could trim the spats shape down to a smaller size and re-sew the seams rather easily.
Color on those can be easily adjusted with with airbrushing or similar.

Boots are tough, keep an eye out on the cargo hold and other forums because from time to time they pop up from someone parting out.

Although I'm not a ROTJ expert, I think everything else looks pretty solid, but lets see that Jetpack and rear items and I'm sure you can get some great help here.

Appreciate it! Feels great to look back and see how far its come. There is a seamstress on my street who has helped a lot with the flightsuit so that's not a bad idea regarding spats actually, thank you. I've been searching for boots for a while on here but think I'll just wait for Wasted Fett's next run. I'll also attach a pic of the Bobamaker jetpack I've got for now, but I'll be going to another comic con in London in a couple weeks and will get some better pics then :)

Thanks pal! That's reassuring to hear. I'd like to try for infamous approval one day but I hear its no easy feat.

Yea looks pretty good for basic!

The only issues I see that could come up for basic:

- The front thruster greebles should be painted red with some dark spray on top.

- You don't have the inner white chipping which was fixed prior to filming and I've seen it successfully argued that you don't need it though. (Personally I think the CRL needs to say this damage is optional as both are correct).

Then two nit picks that are probably fine for basic:

- You're missing your flamethrower tip

- Technically hero never had switches on the right gauntlet. Only a few stunt pairs have switches. There was one scene in Jabbas palace where it looks like there is something in the top switch spot but it's never see before or after and the holes in the hero are too small to hold a switch with the bolt. So who knows what they did. Generally though, no switches on 'true' hero.

Infamous is an entire other beast indeed. I see a bit that would need to be fixed for that.

Overall though, nice work. This is a sharp Fett!

How tall are you if you dont mind me asking? I see a lot of taller Fetts out at NYCC when I see them, but not many my size, Im 5 ft 6. I wonder if this is going to cause things to look bulky, i got my helmet sized down to avoid that bobble head look. you dont look that tall in your pics, which is why I asked.

I appreciate the kind words Neo Fett and for your valuable feedback, those close up movie stills are also very helpful. I'll definitely get those thruster greeblie parts painted red, good spot. Similarly with the white inner chipping on the jetpack, though I might keep it as is if its arguably optional. I've also been meaning to get those alco switches removed but they're hot glued in there pretty good annoyingly, any ideas to get them off? I've heard the front lip on the flamethrower might have got knocked off during filming as its not present on one of the skiff scenes right, and isn't there in ROTJ SE? I wonder if I could just add it on as a piece, or whether I'd need a whole new top gauntlet.

No worries pal, I'm actually the same height as you! At first I thought I'd be too small for Fett, but I like to think I have quite a well proportioned body so I'm rather happy with how it all looks on me.

I little heat and careful pulling with pliers should let you get the switches out. Not enough heat to warp the gauntlets.

The lip on the flamethrower did get knocked off during filming. Probably while filming skiff scenes. Only time we really see it without the lip. It would have been a separate part originally anyway and is how most makers make their kits so that shouldn't be a problem. However still technically a Level 2 issue if your GML sees the text.

SE scenes were filmed in the 90s and are considered a different costume. Even the mostly ROTJ Hero version added to ANH.

Ah thanks for the tip on the switches, I'll give that a go. I noticed Bobamaker now includes the front lip on his gauntlets so might see if he could get me one separately.

Your height won't matter as much as the fit of the costume. I got approved, and I'm 5'4 on a good day.

Im in a bit of a pickle as far as approval, im building the white protoype suit right now and currently I took some liberties as far as my blaster, a McQuarrrie helmet , and a modified Grogu in Carbonite backpack as a jet pack alternate if I want to switch out. etc, I may have to circle back later and try to do some of the original elements like the Uzi mod blaster which im not really a fan of TBH. But Im pretty sure the Prototype suit is an asterisk currently, of a situation with 501 as far as "screen accuracy" since it's non movie footage that that build comes from. If you know any info on this please share, this was just what I was told by a friend. Heres my build so far if curious. My PROTOTYPE / SUPER TROOPER build process.

Thanks for the heads up on height through good to know.
