Father In Law Fett ROTJ Build

We spent our last two Papa Fett sessions of the year working on the boots. Used all acrylic paints to complete the process. Started off with spraying the boots with water and then applying the acrylic paint to the boots. The process works well when the acrylic paint is watered down too. Noticed that when trying to apply the paint to the boots before adding water to it caused some blotches that had to be reworked. It took a few applications to get the darker tones to show. The darker middle area needed roughly 4 applications to get it that dark and drying it with a hair dryer in between each application sped up the process. Below are the acrylic paint colors that we used. Once they dried we used sand paper to beat them up a bit. I think we will do one more pass with the sand paper especially on the black piping. We used hot glue to install the toe spikes to keep them in place before adding the screws. They are on there really well with no movement while walking. Added a burnt umber and black wash to the toe spikes. Happy Holidays to everyone, talk to you in 2019!

Boots look great! Is the goal to have it complete by the end of the year?
Thanks! Wish we could wrap it up by the end of the year. We would like to have it done by February 2019 and then submit the photos for approval. We are working on all the smaller details now and getting everything attached. Once that is done we are off to painting the helmet.

Yep, I twisted the wife's arm and she indicated that she was going to tolerate going to Celebration 9. I've never been to any of them before. I'm looking forward to checking it out and maybe meeting some of the guys there to put faces with names !!

Nice!! Wish I could go, but will have to settle for everyone else's photos.

I understand totally, the last few years we've planned a trip each year, this year it was my turn to pick. But of course I had to agree to go see some of the other sights around the city while we are there too.

I'm currently working on a Hero, just because I have the most pieces for that version. I also have a SE helmet. The helmet is a Marrow Sun that Superjedi painted and I've collected some other pieces for it. I'm also gathering pieces (slowly) for a Jango...

We were working on some details and how everything fit the other day and I couldn't resist taking a photo of this moment. Papa Fett was going through all of his pieces and I took a photo as he was zoned into everything. What really stood out to me after I looked at the photo was how the helmet sticks out from everything else and that being the very last piece we are starting on this week. It's been a long journey so far, but the light is at the end of the tunnel.
