What's the best way to keep the gauntlets right side up when wearing them?

I've never seen anyone pop rivet their clamshell halves together before. That's new to me.

I used a velcro strap that's secured to the top of the gauntlets (here's an example):



but you may be better served with Mr Fett's suggestion of foam if yours don't open (it would be hard to get to the strap and get it closed).

Currently spraying it with automotive primer filler. Hopefully this will do what I want it then I just have to sand it down to make it smooth.

Your rebuild is looking pretty good! I re-painted my last helmet 3 times before I liked it. I did notice an error on your jetpack though. I don't think it would be too hard a fix, but the four side 'steps' that run along the center tank are upside down. It might be an issue when you start to add the piano keys.

Yeah, I noticed that after I finished up the jetpack. Sadly it's too late to do anything so I'll have to make a 3rd xD

is that just cinched around your forearm then? friction fit?
I honestly hadn't thought about how to keep them from spinning. Im not there yet lol

Mine is a cinch strap -- I think they were 8 or 10 inch straps with a plastic rectangle at one end, the other goes through the rectangle and velcro secures that end to the rest (you can barely see that in the photo). Positioned on the arm and cinched tight, it holds very well for both sliding around (the left is especially heavy due to the metal rocket) and down toward the wrist.

I tried the foam, worked great. So far I have one gauntlet painted and the keypad (Does anyone else think its funny that the keypad is just a calculator keypad?)

The weathering comes when the paint dries.

Got the weathering mostly done. Spraying the metal parts silver currently. (Note the middle picture is my first attempt at weathering which didn't go so well).

Got a second helmet to play with. Sadly broke the face when removing the visor.

Gluing the face back together. Whoops

I have 2 of those helmets. The faceplate snapped twice in the same spot as yours. I think it's just a weak spot in the design. Glue like you did and a bit of bondo if needed to smooth out

Without a visor in place it's the only point holding them together so it makes sense so snap. When the visor is in place it should provide plenty of structure.
