RS Props Lineage Fett Helmet!

Hoping I’m alright in posting on here and this thread as I’m new to this but I’ll try and keep it short and to the point.

I’m looking at going with RS’ raw casting and commissioning someone to paint it for me as I was looking to create a replica prop to display with the more damaged appearance boba’s helmet shows from the latest Mandalorian.

From what I’ve researched the shape of the boba helmet doesn’t change and therefore this ESB cast should be suitable but please correct me if I’m wrong.

Any opinions would be much appreciated.

The RS cast is closer to the on screen helmet in the Special Edition scenes from Return of the Jedi.

The helmet in The Mandalorian doesn’t have lineage to the movies.

RS does great work but I'm really sad of their communication sometimes. They are really late for this run but don't really inform us of what is going on, and discovering the first photos of the ears from someone external to RS is really sad. We paid good money for those ears and we never even saw a photo of them before.
Anyways, I'm just anxious to receive the helmet now and I hope they manage to deliver before Brexit, as this would be really bad for the European customers.

thank you Funkyred for the unofficial news, I'm not asking for more, but it would be nice if RS could deliver them themselves too. (y)
They did show the ears off and keep everyone posted on their YouTube videos , I think the delay was purely down to the volumes, hundreds of sets of metal ears take sometime to make.

The helmet from the Mandalorian is completely different from either the ESB or the RotJ helmet. Taking a movie-lineage casting to build a Mandalorian series Boba helmet would be a waste of money and not give you an as-close-to-the-show-helmet as possible.

As of right now, there hasent been a final vote on what actually the post Sarclac helmet is in terms of the cast / sculpt, but amongst the ideas floating around is that its a copy from the sideshow bust.

Bottom line: to get a replica close to the show, the ESB-derived castings discussed here and elswhere on the forums is not an ideal choice, as the helmets are rather different.

Thank you for the reply, I wasn’t aware of any of that really. It’s awesome you guys on here are so knowledgeable about it all, are there glaring differences between the show helmet and the ESB cast?

Maybe.
I think the Mandalorian Boba is a copy of this helmet.
This sideshow bust is a toy,
not a prop replica.

Welcome!
However... your question is somewhat hard to answer. Basically, its easier to say, there are basicalle no similarities apart from the obvious one that they are both Boba helmets. Whereas the initial Boba helmets 40 years ago came from one and the same sculpt, the Mando series helmet is it own thin entirely. no relation whatsoever.

As this thread is not the place to have this discussion:
To better understand the original helmets and where the differences lie, please read the following threads:

As has already been pointed out, a lineage Fett helmet has no relation whatsoever to the one used in The Mandalorian. Although the I wouldn’t do it, it would cool to see someone paint one in that style. It would certainly look better than the one in the show!

Technically you can use the RS helmet for the post Sarlacc costume, but there are major differences between the suits. Here's a comparison image of the ROTJ Hero and the post ROTJ/Sarlacc/Tusken Fett costumes:

That, I do second. In that case... everyone forget my earlier posts, lol.

Well,... theres the difference between getting a helmet most likely to the show and an interesting project like the one Mr. Jr. mentioned. Well... A Mando Show Boba helmet as close to the show as possible would in itself be super interesting.

Anyone had any updates or received it? Since the ears email I've had nothing.
Same here. They are ex

That would indeed be cool. I would also love to see, a upgraded helmet, with a different aesthetic. I do agree that having a lineage helmet, casted for the show itself, wouldn’t totally make sense. A new improved look, would help differentiate, a new and evolving fett, who’s changed with the times.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions guys really quite amazing how knowledgeable you all are so thank you for sharing and sorry for my post maybe being a little off topic from this thread.

So you're getting both metal and resin ears? Did you have to pay extra to get the resin ones included?
The resin ears are to replace Swiss cheese ears I received with another vendor’s hero sized helmet.

They weren’t originally going to supply them as I’d ordered metal ears, but I think I paid an extra £10-15 to get the resin ears. A very good deal!

So close...

I’m painting mine, hence the white cast. The chin cup/strap looks great. Can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Where is this picture from? Do you have it in-hand? The MQ 1 Casio Calculator cast seems a little funky to place behind the keyhole slots since it's like 2 pieces?

What do you mean?. It’s the top half of the Casio, the lower being a visor piece like the original ESB had. The ROTJ helmet, has the full Casio motherboard piece, behind the key slot, not the ESB.

That’s precisely how the original seems to have been installed. The upper half of the circuit board covers half of the keyholes, while the remaining keyholes are covered by a piece of plastic (likely the same material as the visor). The lower half of the circuit board stays attached to the calculator pad.
