RS Prop Masters

William Bond

New Hunter
Does anyone here have any experience with RS PropMasters? I made an order for a full commissioned Boba Fett back in 2018 and I haven't received it yet.
I've hardly had any updates. Whenever I email them I keep getting told I will be given updates shortly, which never happens.
I'm usually quite a patient person but I've waited for 8 years now after being told by them it would take 45-50 weeks.

If anyone here has any experience with their Fett i'd love to know if it's worth waiting anymore.

You've been waiting 8 years? When is the last time you contacted and talked to them? Have you made them recently aware you've been waiting that long? I would have gotten a refund a long time ago personally.

Yes. I've been emailing them every 2-4 weeks. And I keep getting told that Rob will get in contact with me but that rarely happens. For the first 7 years I've tried to be really patient and understanding. But this year I'm starting to get pretty upset about it as It's not a cheap thing to purchase.

I would honestly get a refund. I am sure alot of people here will tell you the same.

You deserve an award for your patience. I ordered a painted ESB helmet from them and pulled the plug eight months later when I realized they hadn't even started yet. Got a refund. I agree with viewoptic. I know there is that small hope deep down inside that says if you wait just a little longer you won't have to start over elsewhere and for who knows how much longer. Because you want the suit more than the money. But 8 years is stunning incompetence. They blew it. Get your money back.

To my knowledge, RS don't do any Fett pieces and/or commissions at all any more. Now, that's kind of irrelevant if you ordered when they were still doing commissions and is really poor of RS not to finish your order, nor to proactively contact you about a refund. As others have said, I would abandon any and all hope of ever getting this order from them and e-mail them every day asking for your money back until you get a response.

It's weird, I've heard a few horror stories about RS but they seem to just get a pass on everything because of the whole "lineage" USP. The whole Boba Fett thing with them annoys me because as far as I know, they have never publicly explained why they just stopped offering Fett armour/commissions/paint jobs etc. I heard it was because it's too time consuming but I mean...that's your job? Yea, a Fett commission takes a long time but if I remember correctly, they charged like £5,000. Just manage people's expectations and don't over promise. As OP has illustrated - people in this community have tremendous patience and if you tell them - "Yeah, this will take a year" many would wait a year.

They also started a "building boba fett" video series on YouTube which was just left abandoned, again with no explanation. I suppose I can understand if you decide not to sell the parts - you're a business, that's your prerogative ultimately, whatever the reason but why do the how-to videos on it have to stop too? As we all know, this is a very difficult, very complicated build and a video series would help so many people. Ultimately, I suppose time spent making those videos takes away from the time spent making money so hey-ho!

On a separate note (apologies if this derails the thread) but still RS related, can someone explain the concept of lineage to me because I don't understand how RS can claim that their stormtrooper armour is the only lineage option?

I know the stories about Simon's Dad, or grandfather or w/e having an original suit but RS armour is not a mould of that suit, correct? That would be recasting which we all know is a sin worthy of exile. So...it's a sculpt based on that armour? So how is it unique to any other fan sculpt?

To William Bond I would seek a refund at this point. Sorry to hear about your bad experience. There is no reason to have to wait this long; it is unacceptable, but RS are good people.

To Short4ATrooper I don't blame them for moving away from Fett. The profit margins and competition, along with sourcing all the pieces makes it very difficult to turn a profit.

The concept of lineage is helmets/armor/props derived directly from their on-screen or production counterpart. RS props owns a few original pieces, and as they own the items, it is not considered recasting. Lucasfilm also lost a lawsuit; Lucas loses Star Wars copyright case at Supreme Court, which basically allows RS Props to continue to legally sell their replicas in the UK. Now, individuals in the US who sell lineage props (CFO, for example) run the risk of a cease and desist order as they operate under different copyright laws than RS does in the UK with original trilogy items. It's another reason why RS doesn't offer any prequel or Disney-era items.
