Pinkflamingos6 ROTJ Build

After doing some playing around and watching DeathProof's video, I'm happy to say that I was able to get everything minus the helmet into the case. Still have a little room and there's plenty of foam padding so everything is nice n safe!

I did a test run on suiting up out of the storage bin and I still need some practice and things need some tweaking.

Also got a picture outside in the sun to see how everything looks. Some things need adjustment but I'm pretty happy with everything so far. Let me know what ya think!

Little helmet update, gotta say I respect the hell out of all the people who paint buckets! This is definitely a labor of love and no walk in the park. Now I'm really seeing why everyone told me do do a stormtrooper lol.

I got the left upper cheek and mandible done so far. Pretty happy with everything and it's starting to come to life.

RF's templates are definitely a God send doing all this tedious work.

Also got a set of BobaMaker shin tools and I love them. Got a paterson chemical mixer because I like the way it looks whether it's accurate or not lol.

Got the kill stripes all masked up
20220306_091055.jpg

And painted using rustoleum fire orange

Also started work on the damage on the dome
20220306_112015.jpg

Started painting the jetpack. I realized I should have painted the yellow before blue after I already did the blue. Oh well, I'm gonna have to do the blue again after all the colors are painted up.

Right on man. I still have yet to redo my BM helmet. So I’ll be working to get paints together soon! That looks like a great blue!

Some jetpack progress, painted up using rattle can paint that was sprayed through an airbrush.

Pretty happy so far. Still a lot of work ahead of me lol
20220313_124322.jpg

Also got the 4 caps painted up as well as my QDC greeblies

And the thrusters, painted the black details by hand with a paintbrush. Still need to go back and give it another coat of black to tidy things up.

That's a beautifully painted 7CS JP! Makes me wanna finish up my Boba Maker one that keeps staring at me begging to be finished! I'm not detecting any hints of Liquid Masking underneath. I assume you're just gonna topically apply the silver paint damage?

Little jetpack update:
I painted the "tanks" silver and now it's all starting to come together...

I ended up repainting the thrusters because I wasn't too happy with how they were originally going

Just have a few questions:
How is this part of the pack supposed to be painted?
20220318_113612.jpg

And are the clips and hooks supposed to be painted the same blue as the pack or be kept unpainted? It's hard to tell from reference photos?

Thanks for all your help!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the tanks are supposed to be white. They are heavily weathered so they look grey-ish.
The part behind the thrusters is just painted the same as the tanks on mine since you don’t see them when the thrusters are attached. The hooks and clips usually remain the bare metal color.

Edit: …although, I have seen reference photos such as these.

Wow! I had no idea the tanks were white and then heavily weathered. I mean I knew they weren’t straight silver, but not white. Interesting. The 501st doesn’t make mention of it in their CRL. But then again they don’t call out each part and it’s color. However, that’s not to say it’s not true either.

I’m assuming this is stated….somewhere?

I don’t know. I’ve just always seen them painted white. I may be wrong. Did you paint yours silver?

Shortfuse, thank you for your feedback! I knew the base of the missile was white. It's hard to tell from pictures but I was hoping to get away with the silver base, then heavily weather with greys and blacks to achieve that final color.

Now looking at the 501st reference picture it looks like a lot of the "chipping" damage is also white as well.
