New MR Fett Helmet Master

Here we go. Tyler noticed that there is a place on the inside of the ESB helmet that appears to have been reworked/modified that matches up with the place where we know the "ESB warp" to be. It is not proof-positive, but it strongly suggests that the "warp" is actually a repair. I am pretty convinced he is correct and have seen no other logical explanation presented.

BTW, zombierepellent, I hate it when people make a statement and don't back it up and that is exactly what I did in my first post. Thanks for calling me on it and pushing me to show the proof.

Well in that case I will say that I may be wrong. If it was a repair then they did a great job on blending the paint. I wonder why they didn't fix all the other cracks that well. Another thing I want to *** is the helmets that I've seen that feature the "Wave" in the brow, make it like the entire brow is waved and not just the bottom edge of it.

Looks to me like MR is going to have to ask the 13 year old Chinese girls who'll be painting those things to take a scotch-brite pad to it at the end.:)

Is there any way to know when the damage occured? IE before or after or during filming... ?

I would say it happened before filming but after painting... maybe when they were putting in the visor. There is really no way to tell. As zr pointed out, the other cracks have not been repaired so I would assume this one was done very early.

Which would mean that, based on pure speculation, its more correct for a ESB bucket to have the wavy brow as that is more than likely how it was during filming.

Well by golly that's a factory job on both. Sorry folks but they have stated they are having problems reproducing the prototypes. Also when this stuff is color matched they place the scanner on what they feel is a good representation of color but every inch of the helmets I did were weathered so I assume that is why it's a bit dark.

Hey Lee, can you contact MR and tell that to just give me your masters if they are not even going to bother using them. Seriously though, the paintjobs are not that bad for a factory job as been stated. I would still much prefer a paintjob and helmet from one of the great artists on TDH. I may buy one to display but it's hard to justify a purchase for trooping or reworking.

i would pay close to what they are asking for the mr for a cast of lee's bucket

Not to burst any bubbles or insult anyone, but I think the price tag for that level of accuracy would go into the thousands -- not hundreds. ...Plenty of people out there with lots of money financing money-is-no-object prop collections and supporting the business of high-end prop replica companies.

I don't blame Lee for holding onto it so tightly. He could probably attest to it better since he's the owner, but at some point I'm sure it's not about the price, but the honor of having it.

Not to mention those who would recast it as quickly as they could get their hands on it and then claim it as their own. I have no doubt it would become the next "mystery" helmet if it were ever made available to the public. :(

That is true but I would be more afraid of it qucikly becoming the single most recast bucket out there if it got in the wrong hands... LOL

Also... a few folks did in deed get a copy. ;) So he didnt hold on to it that tightly. LOL (P.S. - I am not one of the lucky few... :( ) This is still a *PRIVATE* bucket though and will most likely always remain so. But every once in a blue moon stuff like goes available. Just recently the Don Post master (the one cast off the real deal according to speculation) has just been sold to a private party.

I think its imposible to police things like that. And there is honor in knowing you have something special.

I have a feeling we will see this with the MR bucket... lots of low and mid level recasts when it arrives. This dostn bother me with the MR as it affords someone like me the chance to mod, tweek, and repaint it with out breaking the bank. :)

This is about as good as I've found on the net,
http://www.jeditemplearchives.com/swexperience/toyfair2007/masterreplicas/

Not much, but take a peek. Actually, quite a few good pictures of everything here. (I'm thinking that the EE-3 is a production version too; i.e. not Lee's paint master copy as seen in San Diego)

Thanks SS...that's a little better pic...

and I think you guys are right about the color matching system:thumbsdown: ....even in the flash pics the colors stay dark?? It's not right at all..:p

Still I think I want one....I really like the size and shape....I might strip it down and repaint it...

Very Nice helmet indeed!
I'm sure there will be a signature series as well.
If regular price go for $650 ... then I imagine the signature
series will go for @ least $775----$900.00.
uuhh! that will really hurt my wallet.

I don't disagree with any of your comments bit it might be a good starting point helmet and it will be the most accurate helmet licensed to the fans at this point.
