New Hunter
Hey all,
I think this warrants a thread now, I'd started this about 2 years ago and only now got round to finishing it off (although I may still cut out the armour and make a vest)
The original idea was to put a Dragon Models body, new hands, replace the feet etc...but I'd run into a dead end then and so decided now, to go with what I've got.
So it's a Dragon head (James) on the Hasbro body and a repaint of some parts..
I had the vintage 70's 12" fett and scalped the pouches to fill the inexplicable gap in the later (1992) Hasbro ammo belt - superglued and repainted the whole belt
a repaint for the red and chromed chips and kill stripes on the helm and he red on the gauntlets...
painted in the LED chest display
and a touch of brass and thge red light deatil on the ear cap and rangefinder
and finally heres Boba (James) Fett without his helm - scarred by a hot screwdriver
Other details are added the pipes from the gauntlets to the sleeves and the neck/head cowl from Dragon's German soldier - Zanis.
then I decided to cut out the visor and install a more realistic transparent one
Opaque visor area - cut out...
template traced and marked onto plastic deo lid...
and cut out, with a bit extra on the bottom length for possible error...
I've shaved as much as possible from the interior as the plastic is quite thick..there's a tiny hole in on cheek where I shaved too vigorously but it's nothing major, I'll fill it later...
well..it glued.
it looks pretty cool, as far as fit goes, the trimmed helm lets it sit less recessed and the visor is a nice fit for the gap.
the only problem then was that using superglue left a naaasty misty film over the visor, it's still transparent but not shiny, which is..well..not Boba Fett..
so plan b:- cut another visor (number 4) and try a different glue.
different glue, new visor, job done
Respect
