Superjedi's FPH2 for Slynger

Glad to help. :)

Happy 2017! Things are so much different in the future.
I got the rest of the right panel finished up. I think doing the upper right and lower right sections together took less time
than doing that giant scrape!

Here's a close up.

Getting ready to mask all of this off and lay down the base green on the dome and cheeks.

Thanks guys. :)

Going to post a final update for this long weekend. I got the base color down on the dome and cheeks, as well as the first weathering pass.
I began stenciling and applying the damage on the back of the dome.

The fine scratches are a combination of physical scratches and silver laid down with my 18/0 brush. I review the reference pics
during all these stages to see what looks more like silver and what looks like a scratch.

I've worked my way around to the "stacked" area just behind the RF ear arch.

The next area I work on will be the cat scratch portion. One of my favorite features!

Thanks all. :)

Are you using the ole compass tip for the fine scratches?

I have an old dental tool that I sharpened up. I've used a compass point before though. Works pretty much the same way, but the
dental tool is easier to hold. I have a set of scribing tools as well, but the dental tool has a little hook at the end and I feel more
comfortable using it than any other tools.

Still moving around the dome. . . to the cat scratch! I really like this feature. It has a really distinctive look and there's some great
detail to paint in this area. Here are a couple of shots.

The light catches the silver at different angles.

I'll work on the area around the turn signals next.

Thanks again!

Not as much to show tonight. . . boring real life. LOL
I got the turn signal area done and I blocked in the silver for the dent.

I'll continue working on the gray around and within the dent, then I'll do the big streak coming back from it. In the pics
you can see that it's already stenciled and just waiting for paint.

Just thought I'd pass this along...

Dr. Klicks Kit - Duluth Trading

These look and feel like the real deal - heck, they might be for all I know.

I own two of these kits for food photography. Never thought about using them for Star Wars prop making.

Cheers. :D

Tiny bit of progress since the last update. ;)

I finished the dent!. . . and the streak. . . and the killstripes. . . and the remaining details on the dome. LOL
I just got in the zone and didn't stop to take pics at each stage. The dent now has its gray chips, but it doesn't have the pale
contrasting gray yet. I'll do that when I do the rest of it at the final weathering stages. The streak coming back from the dent
is complete as well.

You can see in these pics that the big scrape across the top of the dome is finished, too. It's hard to get a good
angle of that so you can only see a portion of it here.

I masked and airbrushed the killstripes, along with the characteristic orangey looking fade toward the back of the stripes.
I also laid in all the tiny chips and scratches around the killstripes, including the smallish area above them that I like to
call the Scottie dog. :)

IMG_4632_zpsrgzltfeb.jpg

The fade is gradual and subtle, not a sudden color shift. If you hold a couple of fingers up to cover the middle few stripes, you can
see the color difference. The "tape damage" below the killstripes will also be added at the end during effects painting.
There are also a few physical scratches that I'll be adding later on.

Next I'll paint the dark color on the outer cheeks and begin the detailing in those areas.

Fett's getting cheeky. ;)
I finished the right cheek a little while ago. It's a little more stark than the left cheek so it goes pretty quick.

I save the damage in the outer corner of the dark cheek for when I do the mandible damage, as it's more related to that.

I'll work on the left cheek next.
