So you are saying to spray it on after, on top of the green. and not to stencil it at all. I'm afraid without the stencil I wont get the detail and exactness I am looking for.I believe for the back panels, spray the silver, cover them up with masking fluid then spray the green. After that, remove the masking fluid on everything that needs weathering(the greyish/black, and weather that silver to achieve the desired look. The same should apply for the grey/black on the rest of the helmet![]()
I’m using Rafel‘s stencils. He has an actual stencil for every single color the silver, the dark gray, the light gray, and even more on the other parts of the helmet. Have you not seen his stencils ?I'm not sure what you mean by stencil? You are basically weathering the black on the silver to give a dark grey. Hope im explaining it well. You're only stenciling the silver.

Lol I know all that. I know how to use the stencils. I used them for my armor and for my jet pack. I just posted a video maybe it’s explained better in the videoYes i have. What i mean is, keep the masking fluid on the stuff that won't be black/grey, then mist the black on the actual parts that will be weathered. And then youll have your clean silver, your gray, and your blackish tones.
Thank you for the input I appreciate any help I can getStencil all of it and paint it silver. Then spray the green. Then remove the masking fluid from what is supposed to be grey and mist black lightly with the airbrush to get your gray.. Then remove what is supposed to be black and weather It black. If you look at the rear panels, the weathering also goes on the green. Don't just go off of the stencils.
Thats my two cents.
I also suggest you go to hobby lobby and get a fine tip masking fluid. Works wonders for capturing every single detail, I like it a lot better than that Humbrol one.
I think I understand what you’re saying now, so I really wouldn’t be spraying two different kinds of grays in addition to the silver, I would just be weathering the silver to get it to look gray and then a darker gray. Do you recommend a specific masking fluid other than the humbrol?Stencil all of it and paint it silver. Then spray the green. I feel so stupid I finally understand what you meant this whole time now.I'm not sure what you mean by stencil? You are basically weathering the black on the silver to give a dark grey. Hope im explaining it well. You're only stenciling the silver.

This bad boy right here. One bottle probably lasts about 3 helmet paint jobs for me. Plus the fine line hardly gets clogged.
Exactly boss, looking at the ROTJ reference pics, its basically just silver and black weathering.
