Montross (Open Seasons)

What’s up boys and girls? My name is Nick and I’m new to this forum. I was recommended to come here by my good friend (he may be on here, but he’s @mythos_fenn_shysa on IG). So as you can see I am putting together two different pieces of one of my favorite characters (and somebody I’ve always wanted to act as since I was a kid) Montross. This version is the one from Open Seasons. So far I’ve purchased a navy flak vest from Etsy along with gambeson chausses and this beautiful gun that was crafted by the homie @mythos_fenn_shysa.

I was having difficulty trying to figure out the material what his sleeves are. In some panels (as well as the game) it looks almost like puffed nylon (similar to a bomber jacket. Another thing I was trying to figure out is where I could find a bracelet to put on my forearm on top of the end of the glove, and the brown leather ammunition pouches (in two different sizes). Any input would be great. Thank you all, be safe and Merry Christmas (aka Halloween)!

Thats the fuckin' spirit! Sadly not enough love for Montross out there...Open Seasons and SWBH are forever canon in my eyes.
I agree with you 100%. The new trilogy never happened. Lolol... Funny you comment this today... I just had some goodies come in the mail today for the Open Seasons version! All I have to do is put the gambeson chaps through a rit color remover to get them a lighter color (evenly of course), shave down the sides of the skull and putty the eyes and nose (so it’s not super obvious it’s a Punisher skull and make it more accurate to the book). I also finally purchased my two buckets!

As far as the SWBH version I have a friend on standby who does leather crafting and has worked in stage productions with some big names... I also got another friend to get me in touch with the perfect man for advice on this version, the direct source... Mr. Jon Knoles himself! Gonna shoot him a message tonight and go based off of what he says.

The funny thing is, I don’t mean to brag but that’s actually me having slacked off on my diet and training for a month and a half. This and the Fett hype (along with the fact I’m finally settled in my new house) is more than enough motivation to get me back on track!

So an update! Got my helmet (both of them), a jetpack and the pouches, courtesy of Gearbox Leather on Etsy. I’d say he did a pretty decent job capturing the essence as shown in the following pic. I chose a cleaner brown to match the quality of Boba and Jango in the films.

And some recent purchases. Gonna put the chausses in some dye remover and redye them to the cobalt color he has in the book. And of course once I get the excess fabric tailored off, wrap it around the medieval knee cops.

And today, I found the backplate on sale on Etsy:

Me: I decided I’m gonna get a backplate.
My girl: Why? I thought you said he doesn’t have one.
Me: Because it looks like he’s wearing one in Open Seasons.
My girl: He doesn’t wear one in Bounty Hunter. And it’s not incredibly noticeable in the comic.
Me: ***I*** notice it, okay?!

I just had to snap this shot of one my helmets, being guarded by my kitten Vosa... And yes, she is named after exactly who you think she’s named after.

Okay so I got these boots and I’m having a hard time deciding on what to do. What I’m gonna do is take the laces out and put a leather flap over the front to cover the eyelets and to mirror that he has on the top of the boot.

What’s getting me is whether he has shin armor or not. In one panel he explicitly has it, but in others it’s hard to tell if it’s like the biker scout boots. In the first one I circled the area where some say it’s stitching like the boots I got, others say it looks like armor.

What should I do to match the movie quality look?
