Humbrol, amount of paint?

What's up guys, wanna place an order for paint. Those little 14ml cans aren't much. I mean for the green anyway. I know about the different shades but how many cans of the greens did you order? Also I never airbrushed before. So for all I know 14 Mls can paint a whole suit or just the top dome lol. So what did you buy? Thanks for any input.

One can of each is generally enough, once its thinned down and shot through an air brush it goes a long way.

Personally I prefer to use odourless mineral spirits

Depends on the color, some are thicker than others. You just add enough until you have a consistency of milk.

I find with the Humbrol paints that they need a really good mix ( tamiya electric paint mixers are awesome and cheap... or those milk foamers that look the same work too)
I use humbrol or Floquil thinner with my airbrush, it really is amazing how far a little tin can go.
I have a tendency to double up on my paints when doing work as you never know, but I couldn't see you using more than 1 can of each color.
I would recommend you buy a bottle of airbrush paint to practice with. This will let you know what consistency the paint should be ( as to thick and it blocks the airbrush and too thin and the paint will go splotchy or worse)
I would go with black if you do, its the easiest to see what your doing...

Cool thanks, do you ever not do a mix and spray just paint? i also know lighter colors can mean thinner paint. Im gonna be testing every color im sure for the first time.

No, you have to mix, the only time you don't is with airbrush (premixed) paint. Standard paint will clog the airbrush.
those lighter colors should be the same consistency as the rest... where they fully mixed?

I never worked with these paints before. I was referring to other model paints I used as a kid. I wasn't clear, my bad.

Not all of it no, I was doing some trail and error on something over two helmets.

I do a mountain of colour testing, so I always go with a 'it's better to have too much than not enough' approach. I generally go with 3 tins for the main colours (greens, greys silvers), 2 for colours of medium use and 1 for minor/highlight work. Now, it's rare I need quite that much, but It keeps me happy knowing I won't run out during any crucial stages

Yeah better to have it and not need it i suppose. Im gonna order a few more tins of the main groups like the ones you mentioned. Last place im ordering though it from humbrol direct. I had to order from 4 places to get all the colors because they werent in stock. And humbrols package came last.
