first attempt at a bucket (ROTJ)

So I finished painting my ROTJ bucket and I went an odd route, i decided to paint all the layers on first and thn scrape off the damaged areas with a scalpel thing I have. I figured that this would create the most realistic looking damage, but the problem is that i did it some waht free hand while kind of looking at reference pics. I showed my 2 year old neice and she covered her eyes and screamed, I didn't think it look that bad,...

anyway, tell me what you think...

It looks pretty good mate. The thing about layering is that it looks like it's weathered over time. That each layer of paint is older and is showing through. While still looking pretty darn good yours has that newly painted look to it. Dirty it up a bit and you'll be dead on. Overall a great job!

:cheers

thanks for the tip. i tried to give it a more authentic weathered look by literally dirtying it up a bit, i took it out back and i threw some handfuls of dirt at it, but that didn't help all that much, do you know of any other ways to do that?
