Boba Fett ESB blaster - budget build

This is my first time posting here although I read the posts often and found it to be an invaluable resource in the project. I usually post my custom figures that I have made where I reinterpret star wars in various genres. You guys may like my various Boba Fetts.





I actually started making replica props with my dad back in 92. I recently decided to try and make a Boba Fett ESB EE-3 from spare parts and for very cheap. Here are some early steps. I have actually finished it and will post pictures in a day or 2.



an old crosman 357 (already had the gun and thought it look like a webley - it even breaks open at the same pont) with various pvc parts for a barrel



a 10$ tasco scope which I thought had a passable resemblence to the movie scope.



Scrap wood reworked on a belt sander.



medium stain - no varnish - actually used a semi gloss model top coat.



Apoxie sculpted the detail and made the stalk arm out of plexi.



the Revell part is actually 2 pieces of plexi cut out and glued on a cap.




The total cost of the entire gun is under 30$

I bought the greeblies a long time ago from I don't know who.

I got the heiland for 9$, I know it is not the mpp but for the price it was better then my original plan of a chrome pipe.


All set and done it probably cost more around 40$ when you factor in the paint and hardware.

I like the Heiland!... especially for $9!... You've got a great blaster here. What will you do with it? Display?

I also like the idea of leaving the "guts" inside the Heiland. It looks like the practical equipment that it is.

Thanks for posting this. I am wanting to scratch build a lot of my stuff and this really helps! Can you tell us what the diameter of PVC pipe you used for the main part of the gun in the 1st photo?

Darth Veach - the pipes are both 1.5" I believe. There are 2 thickness of pvc pipes to handle different pressures (one for water the other for sewers I believe) The thinner pipe fits inside the thicker pipe. If you went to a hardware store you can mess around and find 2 that fit inside each other.

I did my scratchbuild almost the same way. My only question is what color did you use on your handle?

I guess that is the most logical way to build it. I had actually started working on it using the crosman as a base years ago then I found this site and saw that many people used that same gun.

The handle is painted with a liquid gold leaf from michaels and then washed in a diluted black. The barrel is was a 6 step paint job involving base coats, mists, dry brushing, washes, and rusts.
