My First Build!

My Blaster Rifle and Sidearm kits arrived today from MLS. All I can say is..wow. SUCH great quality and i'm so excited to get these kits completed. The holster is perfect and the sidearm is amazing. The blaster rifle is also fantastic. My only critique is that the chrome piece might be a little too short. I think I'll be purchasing a chrome sink tube and using that, but we'll see.

Sidearms/Holsters (I ordered two of each, one for me and one for my buddy. I bought him the sidearm to thank him for helping me with my build)

The blaster rifle kit. The sling is a little more flimsy than I thought and the chrome piece I think might be a little short. Other than that this blaster is amazing and I'm glad TDH members recommended MLS.

nice! it's an awesome kit. can't wait to put it together.
also that sidearm man..and the holster..they're spot on. very happy about it.

did you have any problems with the blaster being shipped over? i thought about getting one but imagined that once customs saw the trigger it might get held up.

where are you located ? I'm in the U.S. so customs didn't look at the shipment. Even if you're worried about customs, there's no violation of any law for shipping a replica firearm as far as I know, but I'd look into it.

I've been sick with the flu and it has sucked. Haven't had much Fett time lately. However yesterday my friend Littlebitz sent me a bunch of pics and said "hope you don't mind but I got a lot done today on your build"
uh, no dude, I don't mind. So glad he's helping me out. He sent me pics of the progress and I thought I'd share. Sometime next week I want to be back at it and continuing to work on this build.

So he painted my helmet silver, and started with a little on the grey parts.

Also the first coat of green on the armor !

In other news, my jet pack harness is going to ship this week. I ordered one from BigDane and I also just now ordered hooks/clips/buckle from Full Metal Fett. I've officially purchased everything I need to (other than maybe random paints and supplies) and now it's just a matter of getting everything painted, weathered, and costume ready. My official amount of money spent on EVERYTHING (including the wrong blaster I bought) came out to $3,198 USD.

Also...thought I would share with you guys some pics of Littlebitz' build. We're working on completing his sidearm and ordering him some new gloves, but i think his build looks great and i'm glad he's helping me.

what methods do you guys prefer for attaching the armor to the vest ?

Heavy duty snaps are good,15mm ones or bigger personally.. magnets help and even velcro are the main methods.

Magnets are good but you will need rare earth neo magnets for it to really hold, the only other issue with them is it wont stop lateral forces (sliding apart) the snaps have a physical hold on each other and stop that sort of movement,

will probably have to go that route then. maybe that and velcro will be good enough actually.

I would still use magnets. You can JB weld them to the plates and it would be almost impossible to get them off. You might have to use a few more than you would for just plastic but magnets rock.

Make sure you use the high power magnets that are silver not grey.
