Ok, guys, here is my flak jacket with the armor installed in a more fixed way. I was having issues trying to get the armor to stay where I wanted it with the velcro. I went with this idea instead, which after the first 10 screw ups trying to do these stupid eyelets... I became pretty good at it after I figured out a good technique.
So, my job is building jets... just structural part of the cockpit. Nothing really cool like components or power plant. The bolts I used are actually from my job which are some bolts we use on a private jet. I used paper cut outs to locate the holes in the vest and then after putting the eyelets in place I then came back and marked where I wanted the bolts to go, which was probably the hardest part being that I do not have a mannequin to mount it to in order to get it perfectly.
As you can see, the nuts I am using are elongated so they don't back off. I still plan on using hot glue for reinforcement. Can never have too much of that.
So here it is.. Things I noticed that I am not very happy about.
The diamond gap is excessive but that also could be my chest is puffed out a bit.. still though, it's more than I liked
The right chest plate is too close to Ab piece to me.
The gap between the collar and top of the chest parts seams a bit large but referencing a few pictures, it seams there is a good amount of gap there.
Using this from the gallery as a reference.
Going through pictures, the armor seems to be shuffled around a good bit depending on different poses.
Too late to fix for DragonCon, but later, I may be able to relocate the chest pieces a little bit. Let me know if it's worth the pain or I should have no issues getting approved.
