I'm saving each and every one of these photos.
I have to admit, I save them all too.
The rear of the band is now complete. I finished up the right section earlier.
Now I can begin working on the front half! I like to start with the area at the left corner of the visor.
I'm hoping to start my first one soon. Just waiting for paints... Do you varnish this at the end? Doesn't the silver go dull if you do?
I do use Testors dull coat, which is a lacquer. It does change the appearance of the silver a bit, but I do a couple of light coats, and it still lets some of the shine come through.
Thanks, I have that.
Wrapping up another weekend with the first stages of Fett's "face."
I got the left half of the brow area done. I like to break this up into 2 main portions: left, and right.
Next up is the right half of the brow. There's lots of juicy little chips and scratches in that area.
Looking good Jedi!
I've never noticed some of these details before. Your eye is awesome.
Eric, are you sure the colors are right? The back needs to be blue.
Haha! Crap, you caught me. Now I have to start all over.
Got the right half of the brow finished this afternoon. Here are a couple of views.
I'll begin working on the mandibles themselves next!
Drizzly day here, which is perfect for working on Fett!
I worked on the left mandible and finished it up just a little while ago.
There's Threepio peeking through again. He's such a camera hog.
The right mandible is up next. . . *sigh*
C3 PO looks worried ?
He's just wondering why he can't have a cool looking helmet too !!!
He's just jealous.
The right mandible is really detail heavy. I generally break it up into 2 parts when I work on it: the upper horizontal area, and the lower vertical area.
I managed to complete the upper portion, which has the most detail.
I'll work on the remaining vertical portion during the week. It's getting close now!
Finished up the right mandible! That means that all of the "basic" painting is done on the helmet itself.
I also received the TerminalFettler RF topper today. Man, this thing is beautiful!
It's even scribed with Daniel Logan's name on the metal plate that's glued to the Perspex block.
The next step will be to finish up the ears. Then I can start on the "effects" painting.
Looking fan f**king tastic!!!
Your detail is just inconceivable, blows my mind !!
You should autograph the masterpiece before you send her off !!
Don, I got Daniel's autograph back at Celebration 6, so I guess it would be a fair trade to sign his helmet!
Absolutely !! Ever time he looks at it, he needs to be reminded that you made that work of art !!
Almost done! Almost done!
Yes. . . almost. . . almost.
I've done some of the "effects" work. I finished up the pale contrasting gray that's scattered around the helmet.
Here are some shots of that.
I also did the fade under the killstripes. It's a subtle effect.
I still have some detail work to do on the upper RF ear cap. That'll be next, and then the whole helmet will receive final weathering.
Super Nice!! Just when I think you're finished, you do something else to make it look even better!!
I'll bet it looks much better in person !!
