As usual I have divided the right mandible into two portions. Here's the upper area, along with my traditional collage of how I build the details topically.

The right mandible is all done!
This wraps up pretty much all of the "basic" painting. I'll start on the weathering effects next.

I started working on some of the weathering effects.
The first pic shows the white thumbprints. Maybe these were due to a little accident in the paint shop, lol. But they're visible in screen caps from ESB.
The second pic shows the "tape repair" under the killstripes.
The third shot shows the painted edges of the ear platform as well as the vertical stain above the ear arch.
I will be taking a short pause from working on this helmet as I am waiting for the ear parts to arrive. Once I get them, I'll continue to show the work on those and the final weathering!

I've had this one on hiatus while I was waiting for the ears and RF parts to arrive. But they got here today so I'll be able to finish it up!

Prep on resin ears includes using my Dremel to make depressions in the backs of the parts, into which I install small machine screws with some 5-minute epoxy.
The RF ear cap gets a couple of holes drilled and I use CA glue to fix a pair of rare earth magnets.
Tomorrow I'll get these parts in primer.

Just a small update for these resin ears. They're gray now.
That is all.

I did some work on the RF assembly while the primer on the ears is drying.

The ears have changed colors! I have no idea how this happened... or do I?

Oh I love color!

I like to give the ear base coats a good 24 hours to dry before putting tape on them for the markings. But since the lower RF ear doesn't require any masking, I finished adding the damage.

I masked and airbrushed the black arch.

These small details really do add some much to the finished look , really neat and well executed.

The white markings have been airbrushed. I also added my dry transfers for the small black markings.

The ears are finished now.
All that remains is final weathering and assembly, and then I can get this out to Buda so his poor mannequin won't be headless anymore!

Ears are mounted. The plan is to get the visor installed tomorrow and then the helmet will be finished!
