Superjedi's FPH2 for Odiwan72

Hey all!
Back at it with another ESB lid. This one is number 35. It's for Odiwan72 (hi Markus!)
This is an FPH2 kit, and it will feature a set of Machinecraft metal ears. They're beautiful!

Odiwan72 will be building up an interior to mimic the screen used helmet, so I was asked to paint the interior as a base. Reference pics of the interior are very scarce, but I tried to choose a couple of colors that would match as closely as possible. I shot a couple of shades and blended them a bit to get this result.



I'll mask this off and begin working on the exterior. The rear panels will be first.

Next stage: rear panels.
I got the Concrete down late yesterday, and today I stenciled and masked, then shot the dark green. Gotta wait a few hours before I remove the liquid mask.

The masking fluid has been removed. Now I can use my detail brush to refine the shapes.

Got the shapes refined and added the finer detail on the left panel. I'll do the same on the right panel, then I can start adding the gray and silver damage.

I got the big scrape on the right panel done. Giving my eyeballs a little break now.

The right panel is finished now. Next I'll mask this off and shoot the base green on the dome and cheeks.

I got the main green down on the dome and cheeks earlier. Once it's dry I can begin the damage. I like painting the dome, it's one of my favorite areas.

Dome damage is in work. Love the fine scratches!
Gray and silver are applied with a size 18/0 liner brush.

Another section done. Now it's on to the cat scratch.

Cat scratch area is finished. This is my second favorite feature on the ESB bucket.

I've been trying and trying to get my cat scratches to look as amazing at your but threes no comparison. You lay it down so smoooooooth!

Sorry for the dumb question superjedi but are you painting this with a combination of Topical and Layered paints?

It's not a dumb question at all.
I use a layered technique for the beige and dark green on the rear panels. Everything else is painted topically.

thanks for that..it sort of threw me with the steps. In my head I thought people went either Topical or Layered, I didn't know both would be used together.
