Wonderful headway tonight! The ammo belt is complete! Except for the velcro. I have to do that last bit. Let's assemble!

I also brought out my airbrush and tried my hand at weathering the hip pouches and spats! Very happy so far. I used USAF Brown from my model planes.

This view shows the start. Darkening the seams and thread on the left one and the right is untouched.

More definition shown up here. I love that tattooine sand look forming.

Final with this color.

And my spats. Wifey loves these.

That's all folks!

Wow this is an impressive build that ammo belt looks like it could take a beating and come out fine. And your AC costume is amazing too. Look forward to more…

Indeed, Slave1 Pirate117's AC costume is pretty great! I kinda fell off the AC band wagon since AC: Black Flag (Didn't even finish that one), I will say the new AC: Shadows has piqued my interest once again in the series. Also, I've got AC: Nexus VR and so far I'm liking this game! Sorry, and now back to Boba!

Thanks Got2bfett ! I appreciate it. Currently in the dumps on a few aspects of things but hoping to rectify them.

Haha I fell off the band wagon a LONG time ago for Assassins Creed.

Good evening! 1st I would like to start off with the fact that I am no longer going for 501st approval. Some things I just can't do and I also want to wear my outfit wherever I want.

Secondly, I set off to weather my cape tonight! I think I did a fairly decent job airbrushing the weathering but if anyone has any input please give it!

Here is my starting point. I hadn't touch the cape since me and the wifey made it.

I began laying in the Grey's.

Then the blacks and oranges.

And finally the rust.
20240712_211913.jpg
And I FINALLY got to use the cape greeble that I got from Irongladiator !!! Thanks bro! It looks perfect!

And the side by side comparison to the 501st database.

I know there are some non-matches and the holes need to wear in a little more but what do you all think?!

Slave1Pirate117
You are most welcome! And also, that looks like a pretty bad ass cape you have there!

I know when I first started I had no intention of joining the 501st. But fast forward 4 years and a few cons later and there I was submitting my two costumes. I know everyone says it depends on the GML and it REALLY does. Over the 4 years of going out to Cons and running into the 501st (as well as their CO, amongst others) I started to become friends with other 501st members. I just kept getting from them "You just need to submit already!" and after attending a couple of their "Meet-N-Greets", made the decision to submit.

In addition, you WILL be able to wear your costume wherever you want, as....it is your costume. (This is something our 501st CO makes abundantly clear) Just that when you're on an "Official" Troop with the 501st that you're to act within guidelines and rules set by them, which isn't difficult to adhere to.

At any rate, keep up your awesome work - as it is amazing work!

Best,

Hmmm. I'll have to think on it Iron.....

So i was up late last night pouring over pictures, threads, paints, etc. I went crazy. This is one of those projects where you will LITERALLY go crazy if you let it. I decided to go with the "paint by numbers" way. This uses Humbrol paints but i was finding that Humbrol doesnt have ALOT of them available. I am unsure if this is forever or temporary so this morning i set off to find my own answers. I did.

I found a Humbrol cross reference sheet against a couple other big names. Exciting! So I compiled it all into a spreadsheet for the helmet.

Now there is something that has always bothered me about boba fetts. I cant stand how the armor doesnt match the helmet. I also don't like that the upper cheekbones color doesnt match the rear of the helmet like it does in Boba's final moments in ROTJ. I am a believer in "boba's cheekbones are shadowed because they are set in". lol

So I made a quick little mock up on one of rafalfett's stencils to see how it would look. I like it a lot. I would just add in a darkener maybe a mist to the upper cheekbones. Check the right side upper cheekbone vs the right.

Everything looks great so far.

While you are absolutely free to paint your helmet any colors you want, the upper cheeks are definitely not the same color as the back of the helmet.

I knew that was coming haha. I just cant get past this photo. The blue lines point out the extreme similarities between the 2 colors and the shadow from the sunken cheek bone makes it seem like a different color. But where the sun hits.....its seems the same. to me any ways haha

I figured that what the screen capture you were referring to. The base color of the upper cheek is black misted with a greenish blue color. That and the reflection of the sky in the upper cheek does make it look close to the color on the back of the helmet I’ll admit.

Well I also noticed that these screenshots are the esb painted to be rotj for the stunt actors. HERO I presume and those photos that arty took 1 of the 2 helmets have matching colors in those locations.

that's a horrible photo for color reference. you are better off looking at the exhibition photos.
the upper cheeks are NOT the same as the back panels. both upper cheeks are the same color except
the left one has misting of light grey weathering.

Ugh....i hate the 10k pictures that are spread out over one gallery labeled ROTJ. Like why could we divide them into Hero, SE and so on. Too many damn versions haha. I give up.
