RS Props Lineage Fett Helmet!

The chip cup was announced after the helmet went live on the RS website. It was announced in one of the YouTube video updates.

The photo they sent me of the kit has the chin cup/strap. I didn’t pay any extra for it, so I’d assume it’s now definitely part of the kit.

My delivery is due Thursday, I’ll post some photos after it arrives.
Would love to see whatever attachment method and rigging they used unless they are leaving it up to you.

I know. I do not believe in a significant long term detriment to the trade between the (then) 2 zones. It could however well be that if no consensus is reached until 31st of december, we, for a short time, might have significant trade barriers in place until a new aggreement is reached. In exactly this plausible timeframe, the arrival of a helmet could fall.
Apparently the biggest issue at the ports atm is covid , short staff and keeping the areas covid friendly are causing backlogs

It’s here. Wasn’t expecting the display stand and plaque, very nice touch.

I got a couple set of metal ears and a set of resin ears. Both kinds of ears, resin and metal, are great. No pin holes in the resin ears at all, and match the size of the metal ears almost exactly.

Chin cup is a nice addition. Someone asked about rigging inside, there’s no climbing helmet strapping.

The MQ-1 cast provided is ok, if a little thick out of the box.

RF topper is fine. SX-70 lens is good and is made of 2 parts.

I got mine as well.

I have mixed feelings about it.

Resin ears do not sit flush. The inside has lots of fiberglass threads that aren't in resin or whatever material propmakers usually put over the fiberglass cloth and I cut myself just handling it from one of the threads going into my finger like a bad paper cut. I was hoping to troop in this, but I didn't know I'd have to put more stuff on the inside of the helmet to make it safe.

It's cool to see the damage of the original helmet though.

Are the ear pieces not sitting flush because the casts are warped, or is it the surface of the helmet? I haven’t seen this casting, but on my Machinecraft hero the metals ears pieces don’t sit perfectly flush, but only because the real helmet has some degree of warping and the platforms aren’t flat.

Jango Fett Jr I think the helmet is just fine and it is a little uneven (not warped), but the resin ears are warped/crooked a little. I think it's mainly the resin ears. It's really not that bad, but I didn't realize how much better metal ears would be until I got these resin ones in hand.

Had I known my resin ears would be like this I would've got the metal ones for sure.

The thing that bugs me the most are the loose fiberglass cloth threads though. I've never cut myself handling a helmet before. Specifically on the cheeks is where I feel a lot of loose fiberglass. I wanted to send this off to superjedi for painting to wear, but now I'm not sure since the inside needs to be fixed to be safe.

Also, the inside and outside of the helmet is covered in dust or powder? I'm not 100% sure what it is, but it's white and gets all over my hands.

The hero helmet's base where the ears sit won't allow the ears to sit flat. It's just from the damage and warping the actual helmet has had over the years. That's not a concern.

The reasonable concerns I would have from those images joe is the warping of the range finger ear cast. Doesn't look too good in mu opinion. Another concern is the amount of fiberglass matting you said there was. It shouldn't be sticking out but I believe it's easily fixable though for the price these shouldn't be concerns.

It's probably also my novice skills in terms of finishing props. I guess I can just sand the entire interior, which is what RS Props and superjedi mentioned (after talking to someone who has experience with casts), but I'm surprised I have to do that at all. The bent rangefinder piece I think I'll have to heat up water to try and bend it back into place.

I'm just caught off guard that I'm gonna have to sand the interior and fiddle with the resin ears. I've never cut myself just picking up a helmet to look at it. BobaMaker's and Wasted Fett's helmets I have had in hand were super smooth and felt nice to touch on the interior. Even the Mando helmet I had from ESC Props only really had one place sanding would've been required since some matting escaped, but it wasn't the ends so it didn't poke or scratch you.

I reached out to RS Props with my complaints and Rob offered to start fresh and replace everything, so we'll see how it all goes. I'm hoping I can add on metal ears at the discounted price they offered the original wave, but I wouldn't be surprised if I have to pay the full price now instead if I want to go that route.

I do love the details you can see in the cast on the exterior. It's very cool to see the funky warps, cracks, deformed cheek, etc.

I may be wrong but the upper ear cap us meant to be like that , I have a set of RS resin ear caps at hand and mine are similar , the strange thing about the cap is when it's attached to the helmet the range finder arm locks into position at the 12 o'clock position because of the shape . It was quite surreal to see after years of range finders falling down .

Interesting. Do you have some photos? I'm curious to see more shots of it. Similar interior as well?

I don't have an RS helmet, I just have a set of resin ears because I developed the revised fettraset and ear cap masks . Test fit the cap and see if it works for yourself , it really was one of those "Huh ?" Moments when the range finder locked into position.

There’s no anomalies in the shape of my resin ears.

Are they left rough sanded? I think I forgot these photos. The bottom is the part of the unevenness of the ears. I think the bottoms were oversanded a smidge, making a gap larger than it needs to be between the ears and the helmet at the bottom.

I think my best bet is to opt for a replacement and hope I can order a set of metal ears when the replacement ships. I really want this type of helmet painted up to troop in for my SE!

There’s a very small corse part on the inside of one of the ear parts. Easily smoothed though.

I wasn’t expecting the kit to be this good. The resin they’re using seems to be different than what I’ve received in the past from RS. Sort of translucent compared to the opaque black of the ROTJ helmet kit.

I’ve had helmets from multiple vendors via TDH. In kit form there’s usually some work to do on parts.

I received my RS Boba Fett Lineage helmet kit today and my notice was on 12/7 that it was ready to ship.
I am extremely happy with the kit and the aluminum ears are awesome.
I’ll be going over the whole kit more closely tomorrow, but through the little baggies, all looks good. The fiberglass work on the helmet is nice and even, which I will be leaving as is or perhaps paint with plastidip.
I’m leaving this as an “archive” piece in my collection so I won’t be painting it. The stand and plaque was also a great surprise addition!

My only disappointment is that I didn’t know that buying the aluminum ears replaced the resin ears that was promised with the kit.
I didn’t like that this was not clarified, since in a couple of my emails, I expressed wanting to have the resin ears.
My display idea was to have the resin ears mounted on the helmet while the aluminum ears along with replica and original parts for the helmet would be displayed in a shadow box.

Any one else having problems communicating with RS ? I ordered and paid in full for a unfinished helmet , a painted helmet and two sets of metal ears , my unfinished helmet was supposed to ship immediately on December 7th .I got shipment confirmation on dec 12th . as of today tracking says it hasn't left there facility , I have emailed on dec 7th confirming my order , and a second email asking for a rough estimate on my painted version , I have emailed twice since then and have yet to hear back! Does anyone have better contact info for them , because clearly this isn't working
