Hey everyone! I’ve been working on a ROTJ build for Boba and had a couple questions I’m hoping I can have answered ! This is my first thread

1.) I purchased the ROTJ Man of War gauntlets and couldn’t seem to find a thread that had a step by step process of assembling them. Is there a thread on how to put these together? I’m not particularly crafty so is there a simplified way to put these together if possible?
2.) I’m not particularly happy with the colors I used on the armor and was wondering what I can use to remove the paint if I choose To remove it. I did use multiple layers and know that I would take some time to strip the armor down to its bare bones. Anyone ever run into this problem and if so, what did you do to fix it or remove the paint?
I’m very novice to the whole building process and would just like some useful tips on how to do things correctly. Any feedback would be great, as at times I have found myself to become a tad frustrated

There’s not a whole lot out there specifically for the MOW ROTJ gauntlets. There are a couple for ESB though.

I have ROTJ MOW gauntlets and can help you out. What are you needing help with?

Basically the assembly part. I know that there’s instructions that come with the set but they’re sort of vague.

Ok. I’ll do my best. I’ll include some pics where I can that I took during my build. Before anything, you need to give all the pieces a wash with soap and water the remove any release residue as well as a general sanding of all parts. (There will be more sanding down the road).

You need to remove all the extra resin from the pour locations. I used my Dremel for this. The resin cuts very easy. Just be careful not to cut pieces off that you don’t want to.
If you plan on using the hinges, you need to decide if you want them on the inside or the outside. On my last set of gauntlets, I put them on the outside. For my MOW gauntlets, I put them on the inside. There are pros and cons to either. Note: If you are going for 501st approval, is is required for Level 2 that if hinges are used that they are not visible.

Anyway on to hinge attachment: First I drilled holes in the side I was attaching the hinges to. I countersunk the holes for the rivets so I could fill the holes with Bondo and sand it smooth.

That should get you started. Next I will show you what I used the attachment for the other side instead of those crappy clips that were included in the kit. Hope this helps.

Hey man, thanks a lot! I appreciate the help thus far, the breakdown and process so far seems fairly straight forward. I’m not going for 501st approval, I just want to make a nice looking set to wear for cons. I actually started this build As a Halloween costume and more so for fun! If I chose to go the non-hinge route, what would be the best alternative? Thanks again!

If you end up not using a hinge, then the other option that most do is Velcro. Not sure how the MOW gauntlets are set up, but mine (Fettpride) have an overlapping piece, and I glued down some industrial strength Velcro there - seems to do the trick.

Of course if that overlap isn’t there, then you’ll have to add it onto the gauntlets - which I’ve seen others do to!

Hey, thanks for the alternative! I’m researching different methods and I’m still deciding what method I want to go with so I appreciate your help!

There are no wrong methods, just some that work better for others. Like you said, you should research the different ones and do what’s best for you.

Here is what I used on the other side of the gauntlets to keep them shut.

Neodymium magnets epoxied to the ends. Found these at Hobby Lobby. Plenty strong to keep them closed.

Mine didn’t quite line up prior to installing the magnets.

So I used a heat gun to apply gentle heat until it was pliable enough to straighten and hold until it cooled.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share some photos of my boba fett costume I recently finished! I still think I wanna add the hoses (I’m not going for 501st approval or going crazy, just wanted to try and make something. This is my first time doing something like this ever.) all things considered, I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out! During covid time I needed something to do so I thought why not make a kick ass Halloween costume!
