Rangefinder lights

I was wondering if anyone else had an alternative to the Hyperdine electronics rangefinder light board? I just cannot justify the $60 plus $20 shipping to have this little luxury, but really want something in the stalk other than a couple of empty holes. Is something like that relatively easy to make? Are their any found household items I could cannibalize, like a tv remote or something like that? Thanks!

just go out to the local electronics store and pick up wire, a switch, two leds, two battery holders for a 3 volt watch batttery and dcreate a circut.
