Pinkflamingos6 ROTJ Build

Active Hunter
Hey all, wanted to post some progress on my ROTJ blaster that I'm working on while I wait for some hard parts to get in.

Initially I was going to 3D print an EE-3 using AprilStorm's files on thingiverse.com out of PLA but then after many hours of printing I glued the barrel piece on backwards

I then decided to start over because the glue I used was too strong to break the pieces apart. This time using PETG.

After several attempts and many warped parts, I decided I was going to make the stock out of wood and print the rest.

The other parts are coming along well, just the daunting thought of all the sanding is starting to lead me in a different direction.

I think I'm gonna keep with the printing for now, but if anybody knows a good kit for an EE-3 it would be much appreciated. I would definitely like to look into it.

Just a little Blaster update, still a fair bit of sanding and priming left to do.

I'm thinking of using acrylic craft paints to paint my helmet/armor. Did some paint samples and wanted to get some opinions on color accuracy for ROTJ colors.

Currently working on painting the shoulder armor, still need to detail and weather. One big question I have is how accurate does all the damage and weathering have to be for 501st approval? I know no random damage, but does it have to be exact or is more of as long as you have the basic idea of size and location you're good? Just want to get an idea before I go any further. Any help is much appreciated

For blaster kits, if you wish to upgrade, I recommend Sidewinder’s kit. Clean cast, no sanding required.

For the 3D print you can use Motip Spray Putty. I only discovered Motip recently and it’s fantastic. A few layers of Motip with some wet sanding and it’ll smooth out nicely.

I'll have to check that out, been using primer filler spray and it leaves a little to be desired.

Little weekend update

Got my WF boots recently, many thanks to FandangoFett for all his help. Got them painted up pretty decently, just need some weathering and to attach the spikes I got from QuestDesignCanada.

Got my knees all painted up, think they came out nice so far.

And finally got some paint on the EE-3.

Think I'm gonna try and get as many pieces together and then weather everything all together

I'm hoping to get 501st approval so if anybody sees anything that might not be up to snuff, all criticism is welcome and appreciated

Another little update, was able to finally get some green paint on some armor pieces! Still need to weather and do some fine detailing on the damage, but I'm pretty happy with how it came out so far.

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas! Little update... got all my chest and cod armor painted up and finished. Just need to weather everything. Happy to see everything coming together while I eagerly await my flightsuit and helmet Huge thanks to RafalFett for his armor stencils. They're a big help ☺

Think I'm calling the chest armor done, gave it a coat of grime and matt varnish and I think it looks pretty good. Even better with the chest display installed. Thanks again HotPockets for the display, it's a beautiful piece.

Let me know what ya guys and gals think!

Thanks everyone for the feedback! Took some shots of each piece to hopefully better show the colors/weathering. They were taken under "daylight" flourescent bulbs that I have in my workshop.

So I'm currently working on my right gauntlet and added all the damage that's shown in the most recent CRL picture. My main concern is that it still looks too new lol. I know there's several gauntlets for ROTJ and I'm trying for 501st approval. My question is "random" damage on the lower half of the gauntlet acceptable? Or should I try and mix it up between reference pictures?

You need to go over them with light misting of greys/black to dirty them up some. This is best achieved with airbrush. I can take some pics of mine tomorrow when I get home to show you what I mean, if you are interested.
