PhantomBlade finally builds a ROTJ Fett

Looking good! Parts are comin in hot!
As far as the boots go, I got ones from the same vendor and I feel ya on the stitching and soles. I'm planning on getting some accurate ones .. if they are ever offered again... but until then there's really nothing out there that checks all the boxes so for now they will have to do!
I mean, they're comfy enough, and they look okish sort of if you squint (I just hope the 501st approve them otherwise I"ll be rather moody). Soles definitely need a trim to fit the MCR spikes better. I think I'll definitely splurge one day and get myself some decent ones eventually. I've got a custom shoe maker near me, but I have suspicions they'll be over $800 AUD to get them made!

Look what I found on eBay........
2 sizes too big, so I'll fall over my spikes and flat on my face at some point. I will try to record it for everyone. The things we do for bounties. I have sneaking suspicions these are MOW boots with MCR spikes? The craptastic pair will live on my custom mando until they fall apart.

Progress on the 3d printing. Yes, the slots in the centre section and two edge sections shouldn't be there. The maker is aware of that and is filling and rectifying. Everything else is correct though right? It's nice to finally see bits happening!

It looks to be based on the Book of Boba Fett version, there are some small differences in the shape and features from the ESB/ROTJ original packs. If your build is just a personal project and you want to paint it up in ROTJ colors it will look awesome no doubt, but just a heads up if you are trying to apply for costuming groups you may run into an issue with this style jetpack for a ROTJ costume. Like BudaFett said, you can always DIY and get creative to re-build shape things with bondo but but just depends what's important to you and how much work you want to get into.

I'm genuinely clueless as to why he used the bobf files, he does know I'm building a Rotj. So I suppose we'll see what happens. I believe he's prepared to reprint if he needs (he's already reprinting the gauntlets because they had the ESB details).

In other news, the boots I found on eBay have arrived. Claimed to be a 10.5 but they run a size small (which is fine as I'm only an 8.5 anyway).

Yikes! They just look like random ink splotches, this isn't really weathering.
The second picture, which is the condition the boots arrived in, certainly does look like ink splotches. I'm assuming the original owner of the boots never bothered trying to get approved with them. If however it's the first picture you're referring to with the boots significantly darker (which I've reattached below), then your feedback is duly noted and I'll get the rattle cans out rather than the diluted acrylic paint and have another go if it ever stops raining around here.

Since AlphaCloneFett just wants to bash everyone on the forum, feel free to message me if you want any weathering tips or ideas.
Thanks mate, shall do (Alpha really is a ray of sunshine isn't he). I'm hoping to have another go at them this week. I soaked a lot of the paint out that I added, but the original splotches are refusing to budge. So I think I might have to pretty much start again. Paint the whole boot a light grey and go from there. All else fails I'll ship them down to a paint savvy friend (he's also making a ROTJ Fett) and he's going to airbrush them for me. So a frustrating glitch but I'll get there!

If they are Imperial Boots I've found they are a bit smaller than the standard shoe sizes. I'm a size 9 (uk) these are a size 9 (uk) but i wouldn't like to troop in them. They seem a size too small in my opinion. They look good but I'm convinced they had an issue when it came to sizing ‍♂️

I've been entertaining myself building a clone while waiting for the armour. Have made some progress on Boba however.

Mum has practically finished the cape, just needs trimming to length and I might look at making the greeblie.

I've repainted the boots. Again. Couldn't convince the splotching to behave so I just covered the whole boot in grey paint and started again. Turned out better I think.

My ammo belt arrived from Handmade Horror Shop. Grue is also making the hip pouches and spats.

Still eagerly awaiting the amour.

Tell Mum, she did an amazing job on that cape! (I know someone who could get you a Cape Greeblie for that cape! ;))
:D

Them boots look much better. Sometimes going back to square one is necessary. But great job on em'!

I know Handmade Horror Shop is highly sought after, and gets high marks from many other Fett's! It looks great. I myself went the Delta Leatherworks route - just cause I love the leather. But the vinyl is what they used on screen, and again, looks great!

Keep up the awesome work!

Cheers,
-Iron

Colour advice please :) Couldn't find 'off white' sateen at my local shop that wasn't distinctly cream, so I"ve dyed it myself. Is it dark enough? Or does it need another swim in the dye bucket? The first attempt.......went wrong. It's a gorgeous mottled dark grey. So on to the custom it goes.

This is attempt 2. The original white sateen cotton is on the top. Bottom has been ironed, so is set in its final shade. I've still got dye, along with more fabric to redo the dye job if needed, Mum just wants to know before she makes the vest wrong colour. Because then she'll hurt me if she has to redo it. And she's a scary lady.....

It's hard to tell from just that by its self since color swatches always look a bit different on different screens but I wouldn't go any darker than personally that for a starting point. You can always adjust the color later with misting and weathering and it's much easier to darken if you want than lighten. A lot of it too is the balance between the flight suit color and flak vest fabric.

Sweet, I'm inclined to agree. It's a desperately faint grey (but probably a shade darker than what I can at least see on my screen, who knows what the CRL team are expected to do after the colour has been through a camera lens and then onto a monitor....), I've seen some vests look a lot darker, but then some flight suits and vests look incredibly similar. The flightsuit pantone colour is up on the crl, which is awesome, they're just lacking the vest colour. My vest is definitely lighter than the recommended flight suit colour, but it's certainly easier to darken it than lighten it.
Will get Mum to make the vest and see what happens I suppose.
Onwards and upwards!

Ignoring the vest for a bit. Weight loss is in progress so please forgive the fat gut and definitely more than 3-4 inches of webbing. It's about 7 inches gap at the moment. Are they stacked correctly? The Mando in me wants to put the girth belt perfectly centred under the ammo belt but the movie stills have them staggered.
