PhantomBlade finally builds a ROTJ Fett

PhantomBlade

New Hunter
So I've spent 7 years talking myself out of this project, but if I'm going to spend a fortune on scuba diving I can spend the same fortune on being my favourite Bounty Hunter of all time. Going to be an incredibly slow project as I'm refusing to make the flightsuit until I've lost weight, but I can collect goodies to motivate me in the meantime right?

I've been snooping around on ebay, and found an Aussie buyer selling these. They're US half army shelters, but are they the right ones?

Yes! Go for it! I'm here to help! I haven't done everything but I'll help any way I can!

As for the half shelter, the pic is tough to see. Can you get a better and full picture?

Good to see a new ROTJ Fett in the mix! I was the same way about my flight suit when I was just a touch over weight too. But after losing around 40+ lbs. I'm in a way better position now. So cape....looks good, you'll be hard pressed to find the exact replica as far as stitching goes, but it looks good to me! The stitching is not too hard (and I'm a novice), if you wanted to get into sewing. I used an alterations lady to get my cape done, but now make my own capes and will even begin offering my own versions online here shortly. (I offer the Cape Greeblies now - just need to get the new run going)

Let us know how we can help. Like Slave1Pirate117 - I'm also here to help! Check out my WIP for my Fett!

So before I try to teach myself how to make boots and get very frustrated, I've possibly found some boots. If I can convince the seller to make a single seam down the back instead of the two, would these be useable?

Be careful with the boots. I bought a pair on Etsy and the seller sent me some that were nothing like the pictures. I got lucky and found some used MOW boots that were my size. I wish there was someone making these on a consistent basis.
A couple of recommendations for your list above. For the decals, I would highly recommend ShortFuse who is a member right here on TDH. His decals are awesome and he's a great guy to get to know.
For the shin tools I would recommend buying the Patterson squeegee and making your own. Its a fun project, and with the addition of the metal rods from MachineCraft they will look completely accurate. Here's where I bought my squeegee.

Hope these suggestions help, and look forward to seeing your progress.

Yeah, the boots. I have a pair of Imperial Boots (Now known as Keep Trooping), but sadly they no longer make them. Cool thing about them is they actually came with metal toe spikes!

But again, sadly Imperial Boots no longer makes these. The only other vendor I'm aware of that makes them closest, in regards to accuracy is MoW as chondro788 suggested or Wasted Fett.

Concerning Shin Tools, Yeah just build em’ using the Patterson Squeegee and ditch the idea of doing 3D printed or finding casts of them. They are very easy to build/convert and also like chondro788 said, with Machine Craft Replica's "Shin Tool Rods", (and some Black Gaffer's Tape) they are very accurate! I bought a set from MoW and had buyers remorse....

Hope this helps!

I also had buyer's remorse when it came to the shin tools from MOW. I ended up buying the squeegee, the chemical stirrer, and the MCR shin tool rods. The only one I'm keeping for now is the Jetpack Adjustment Tool for my esb build.

Thanks guys!

Have taken a chance with the boots so will see what happens. The guy actually messaged asking for as many reference pics that I could find for him so he seems to be attempting to improve his current offering? And realistically if they're not good enough I'll chuck them on the custom Mando instead.

Sitting in line for a set of Chondros braids, and waiting eagerly for a couple of boxes. Might attack the cape this week. 30 x 36 inches seems to be the mentioned measurement?

Still on a glove hunt. CB props seems to be popping up on all the FB groups advertising gear, but I cant find any feedback? Was apparently black listed on a few prop groups a few years ago?

Thanks for the plug Jason.

PhantomBlade, I can definitely help you out with any decals.

Also, as far as the boots go, Christian with MOW is hoping to get back in the boot business at the end of the summer. Supply costs just got to be too much around Covid time. He said once he is done with his current glove run, that the boots were going to be his next focus. May be worth waiting for.

The arrival of stuff and things. Getting verrrrry excited. The boots fit (the bonus spats don't because I'm a fat lump, but that's ok). The maker altered the design to have the single back seam for me. Unfortunately the soles aren't spectacular, I suspect they'll fall off after the second troop, so I'm going to try to source some rubber and get a shoe repairer to perhaps alter them. My toe spikes also unfortunately don't fit, but luckily the end of the sole is a bit too long, so space to alter it. The girth belt also arrived, so now to search the forums to dye the thing the right colour. Unfortunately these belts are expensive and hard to get in Australia so I've really only got one chance. Otherwise I'm going to just steal the buckles and make it myself with cotton rope, but will try this synthetic one first.

Its difficult to dye synthetic belts. I saw a thread on here where one guy used fence paint to colour his, it looked ok

Customixed vinyl paint. Within a tone and a half to the Pantone 181c red, supposedly indistinguishable to the human eye. I'm going to have to either put a fixative on top of repaint annually I think, but will wear it for the day one day and see how it holds up.

The decals from Fair price Props, and the chest display from KatsoProps, both Etsy sellers.

Looking good! Parts are comin in hot!
As far as the boots go, I got ones from the same vendor and I feel ya on the stitching and soles. I'm planning on getting some accurate ones .. if they are ever offered again... but until then there's really nothing out there that checks all the boxes so for now they will have to do!
