Ok, Rex. Thanks for the reply.

While you're at it, mention how this short bald guy needs a really cool truck because his is getting used up. ;)

There appears to be a bit of subtle and even not so subtle hints that some feel this helmet may have been, in part or whole, recast from the "movie sized helmet." Time to put up or shut up. If you have some proof, then lets see it. If you don't have anything then why not cut the sideswiping pot shots and lets welcome this new guy's efforts as the warm and closenit community we are! I for one think it is a fantastic first effort and am very interested to see the final product!

Thanks Braks.

I've been asked this alot recently. I am not the maker of this helmet! I wish I could sculpt like this!!! I'd be having lot of fun!

I am the pointman on this project.

...and now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Well, I can honestly say that there is no doubt in my mind that this helmet is a first generation piece of work. I am well aware of the maker's rep at i/6 scale vehicles, and had talked to Rex long before this project ever saw it's first 3-D incarnation. I wish to alay any fears of this being a recast of anyone else's work.

I just thought that in the hush-hush world of makers/dealers etc., that the maker would have possibly, at least, presented his product to avoid any doubts. After BH's explanation, I understand their position, and am satisfied. Let's get behind and show as much support for this effort as we have for any other craftsman that has made their work available to the Fett community.

Thar's whar my stick floats.

Greetings fellow Mandalorians!

I wish to apologize to all the members of this fine forum if we have cast some doubts on this project as this was surely not our intention.
Yes, I am the creator of the helmet presented above and I'm hoping I could eliminate any "shadows" that envelope this endeavor.

My forte is really into building Fiberglass customized 1/6 scale vehicles whereby I have 4 clients who I build for. Eversince joining this Fett group 7 months ago, I was graciously welcomed by my buddy Rex Adams (Bounty Hunted).
Rex and I are both active on our 1/6 hobby and he has been instrumental in helping me become a Fetthead :) Rex knows all the newbie frustrations I had in the beggining moreso with the purchase of a DP'97 bucket - that I've been trying to make it look accurate, but so far failed.

The cardboard helmet you see above is the result of one afternoon's frustration on working with my DP - thus I thought it best building something from scratch rather than working on an existing design. Why I didnt think about this in the first place is pure stupidity on my part :)

My only intention was to present this helmet as a "surprise" to my buddy Rex. I told him that this project is his and all the rights regarding this to whatever level he wants to take it. Sorta like a "thank you" for all his help & support. I told him to run the ball with it as I am too busy in my schedule that I cant answer any questions that you guys might have.

Thus, I'm pressuming he thought it best to present you the helmet above to be "finely tuned" by some of the experts in the hobby. It would be great to think that the results you see above is the culmination of each & everyone's input to making this bucket better than when it started.
Mind you, whatever outcome this bucket may take, we are in no way competing with any of the great helmets done by great artists on this board - much less convince anyone that this is better. This helmet has full of flaws & inaccuracies, thus we are humbly asking for your help to make it better.
Besides, I cant afford your great custom buckets - thus I have to make my own....LOL!

We could only hope that you see our endeavors as something of a positive move in contributing to this hobby, rather than a negative one.

Lastly, I wish to thank all the good folks of this forum for giving their inputs, suggestions, ideas & mostly your support.
This one is for you, guys!!

Peace to everyone!

Mardon

Rex, you have the ball.......

quality of workmanship it is excellent. You should be
proud of your accomplisments. If only I could produce
something of that quality.

Hey Mardon, dont really know you but im sure if your friends with Rex and MMM your a good guy and thus a friend of mine. Thats one mighty fine lookin helmet youve got there and im glad you decided to share it with the rest of the board and not just make yourself a kicka$$ helmet. The rest of us DP97 owners are in your debt.

Here's the latest update. It has more of a ESB squint added.

Due to time constraints, this is it for now. Mardon's workload w/ his livilhood will be taking over. A small number will be produced next week. The next batch won't be until June.

If you're interested, please PM me for more details.

The stalk will be cast in fiberglass and hollow, to allow wiring to run up inside it, into the rangefinder, for leds. You'll have to do this work yourself. :)

take care all,

-Rex
