My custom blaster

here's a blaster pistol that I've been working on for awhile

originally it was just a multi-colored cap gun, then i gave it a simple coat of silver paint...i wasn't very happy with the results.

i then thought of how my Mando would use it (a weapons back-story )
then i decided the following:
the pistol is both a "slug thrower" and a blaster (lower barrel = bullets, upper = blaster bolts)
so i added two detail parts to the ends of the barrels to make them different from one another, and added a "power pack" cartridge (cylinder on the bottom)
the cap gun already looked like a revolver, so there was already a place for the "slugs" to go.

let me know what you all think, and comments and ideas that may improve my blaster are certainly welcome :cheers

I love the overall look, very cool!! it definitely looks like a blaster from the SW Universe. My only suggestion would be to add some more weathering, dirty it up a bit.

what kind of weathering would you guys suggest? the gun's black so a black wash is out...
i am going to paint the textured part of the grip brown or something similar, to look like a wood finish.

I'd love to see some more pictures. It looks beautiful from what I can tell though.

i'll post some more pictures after i paint the grip and figure out what i'm going to do as far as weathering goes...i don't want to get it too dirty, since my character is actually an imperial mando...we all know how the imps like to keep their kits clean

I would suggest painting the entire gun silver first, then mask out scratches and re-paint it black.

Something I did for my girlfriend's blaster is run over the finished paint job with a buff end on my dremel. It peeled back the black paint and laid down a nice smooth dull shine onto the silver underneath. Came out looking really nice.

Pics are a little fuzzy, but those silver streaks along the top were done with using the dremel buff method. You have to put it on medium speed and lightly run over it. Otherwise it will skip and leave gouges.

For weathering I would go this route, it wouldn't require a total silver repaint, but would still look awesome.
