Hi all,
I'm sure that most of you are not aware that I have Type II diabetes. It's something that's been (partially) controlled with oral medication
and I have regular checkups and blood work. I've been on my meds for a little over 5 years now, and they do sort of OK in keeping my
blood glucose in check but I wanted to improve my results and my health.
So one year ago today, on May 22, 2015, I started exercising and made some changes to my diet. I started doing cardio 3 or 4 times
a week and kept a closer eye on what I was shoving down my throat every day.
Here are some numbers comparing one year ago to today:
A1c reading (this is the big one for diabetics)
5/22/2015: 7.6
5/22/2016: 5.3 (that's a big drop!!!)
Cholesterol
5/22/2015: 138 (not too bad)
5/22/2016: 110 (better!)
Triglycerides
5/22/2016: 150 (sort of OK)
5/22/2016: 55 (great!)
Weight
5/22/2016: 206 lbs
5/22/2016: 167 lbs (39 lbs lost!)
Pants waist size
5/22/2016: 38
5/22/2016: 33
I'm really happy with the way things are going and my next round of lab work is in August. It's a big commitment of time
and effort doing the cardio, especially considering I also have bad knees, but it's really helping me out.
