Here it can be seen the 3d modeled disc doesn't overhang. Holes look like the right size too

Hadn't planned on copying anything. It's all reference to me. I have one of my prototypes above but I'm thinking of changing it again.

The disc I'm making tomorrow but I'm not sure if I back the same design others have come.up with just yet.

oh see that right there.... the "U" bracket thingy with the holes in it...id want a set of those if you make em...or want to sell a prototype set. They look similar to Stormrider's which i think are the closest

That's kind of my priority right now. I definitely will be making them, but I'd really prefer solid support from the community on if the height of the lip overhang is correct and if the size chamfer is 45 degrees like I have shown or if it's 30 degrees.

I jumped the gun doing a pulleys without knowing they were obsolete. I just don't want to make the same mistake again machining inaccurate parts

honestly they look a little too close to Stormrider shrouds. in fact that resin piece in the background with the scope rings attached to it looks identical to the piece he offers in his kits.

true, but with that part and even the breech disc its kind of a simple looking part. With something so simple where do you draw the line? If i made a breech disc it would likely look similar to Sidewinders because well its a disc with 2 holes in it..how different could i make it and it still be accurate? I think the same goes for the Shrouds(thank you for the name..it had escaped me lol) When i look at reference pics it looks closer to SR's than SW's IMO at this point in time.

yea i hear ya. to me....the 45 looks right, but maybe make it with slightly less chamfer (like the area the chamfer covers be narrower) and smaller holes spaced slightly more apart would look right to me. Thats just going by my eye.

Also i may be interested in a set of the "incorrect" discs for a custom build.

Who's 3D model is that and what part is the shroud?
I agree with Lou on the disc. Based on the limited information available it's always going to be a circle with a couple of holes in it and a raised bit in the middle.

I also came up with this new design for the shrouds that allow them to be fastened to the barrel mounts with enough relief cut in to allow the scope mounts to clamp on top

Just this one at present but trying to secure another. The unit it comes in seem to cost £65 to £85 depending on the seller. If you can find them that is; stocks seem to have dried up very quickly.

Hello,

I am going to throw this out there for your consideration I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere. I was looking for something else and came across the Renwal Visible Automobile Chassis and one part struck me as being a possible fit for this part. I have not been able to find a good pic of it, but the brake drum plate in this scale should be about the right size. It's the correct time frame and it goes along with the Visible V-8.

Thoughts?

Interesting, I've a stack of stuff like this. Meccano was one of my follow ups but I don't think it's there. In fairness I was a whisker away from this box following the Myford Super 7 reversing switch rumour on the red box part. I've a a small inventory of those sorts of parts. I think it's possible the Myford rumour could have grown from the idea that the box part was found on A Myford Super 7 rather than all Super 7s.

Nice idea here.
