Couldn't be happier with my CABOOTS - they are a great texture to do weathering on, toe spikes made from foamex, wood and epoxy filler.

I don't make them, sorry. I am busy working on hollow rangefinders at the moment. You can buy toe spikes from "star fortress productions" but I don't know how good they are.

Good luck!

This is the first time I see the CA boots . Although I already have the WES boots ,I am definitely gonna grab me a pair of these CA boots as well.

Looks great Bobamaker! Can we get some details on what you did for weathering and a bird's eye view of the toe? Looks like you filled in the gaps between the curve of the toe and the spike plate - looks great.... details!!

Yea, I really like how the toe plate follows the curve of the toe and is squared off in the front. I am definately going to use this technique when making my set.

The weathering was done using grey primer (to neutralise the bright cloth a little), white primer (to lessen the blackness of the elastic) and very watered down black acrylic paint rubbed over the surface of the boot with a cloth. I also put my hand inside and bent the boot (to mimic a walking effect) and lightly sprayed the creases with white to get a worn effect.

The spikes were made from 3 pieces of foamex (sintra) glued together, then I put some epoxy filler on the inside and pressed against the front of the boot sole (which I had applied masking tape to so as not to mess it up) this gave me the very snug fit. When dry I removed from the sole and filled any remaining gaps, sanded and painted. Weathering is just acrylic black again very watery and wiped away with a cloth.

I will try and post a bird's eye shot tomorrow...thanks for the nice comments.

Hope this helps Chris.

I can't believe how nice these boots look. I thought they were being made of like leather or vinyl??
When did they change the material for these?
Nice job!

The inside of the boot is leather, quality...so for $100 they are an absolute bargain.
