Budget Boba Costume "Base" - AliExpress/eBay vs Rubie's Supreme

Man, this is inspiring me. I think I will order myself one of those Aliexpress costumes, the problem is that I am in-between a size M and L. Wonder if its worth the money to have them custom size it for me? Has anyone ever gone that route?

My guess would be it isn't worth it.

What's your height? I'm 5'8" (like, exactly) so I went with a Medium.

I figured Boba's costume looks more baggy than tight, so going with the other size would be better. Plus it's only 1" larger than my height.

Thanks for the reply. Im 6'1, but with a 33" waist. Im worried if I go with a large its going to fall off of me, but if I go with a medium the pants will be way to short. I guess its easy enough to take in pants though...

I'm 5'11" and 170 athletic, and the medium fits perfectly, its tighter than the usual baggy Boba so I am using it for my Pre Pro 2 suit since whatever model they used for those photos was obviously bigger than intended for the suit so it's tighter.
If you are any bigger than me then go large.
I will say, it is one of the most well made boba fett cloth suits from China I have ever seen. Get yourself a stitch puller and unstitch all the flimsy "armor" off it and replace with vacumformed armor and its an amazing suit. I love that it's two piece for ease of wear and the flak vest looks great! I really like mine, I added the para cord pull string to the zipper for ease of zipping up.

Medium pants measure 43 inches from waist to bottom if that helps. I would go large if that's too small.and you can always get it tailored by any local shop around you.

Thanks for the info. I was curious about the vest. How does the medium fit you? My chest measures 41.5". I'm okay with the flight suit running big, but Id like the vest to fit snug, and I'm not sure how easy it would be to get that tailored if I find that the large is too big on me.

I bought XL (I'm 1,90m and average athletic) and it is WAY TO BIG... I'll bring it to a tailor.

Medium fits great! I have a 42" chest, im basically the definition of average but im athletically built( solely bc of my day job lol).
It fits a bit tighter than most flight suits which is perfect for my pre pro 2 version so if you want a little looser suit, go with the large and you can always get it tailored.

Would you be able to share a picture of yourself wearing the suit? I am still flip flopping back and forth between a M and L. I appreciate the info you have given me thus far.

Yeah no problem, so the shirt/jacket zips up in the back, not gonna lie, rhe neck is a little tight, I have a larger than average neck for my body size( once again I'm a straight up medium on all aspects). So I may get a tailor to resize the neck or I may replace it complete with an arkady or etsy neck.
But you can see how the jacket fits nicely and the pants sit up higher like a grandad wearing pants lol.
For info, I usually wear a size 32 waist ( I can wear a size 30 to 31 but 32 is comfortable). And 30" length. These pants are a littlw long but they are made to sit at your mid waist.
Overall the build quality is great, I may replace the zippers with metal zippers as they are just plastic. But this is an actual cloth suit, not like the rubies which is a sort or rubber Halloween sheeting material that is awful. This is like a rougher cotton ish canvas style material. I am no expert by any means on clothes but it seems to be pretty darn sturdy.

So im by myself so i couldn't zip up the back of the jacket all the way but you can still get the idea. Overall I like the way it fits.
Honestly, when in doubt go ahead and get a large bc you can always have it tailored! They can easily take material away, but they can't add material as easily, so if your torn, go large and spend the 50 bucks extra to get it tailored. No big deal.

** don't mind my dog in the photos, on my day off he knows we are going for a long walk so he follows me around until we do. Freaking knows just how to get me with those sad puppy eyes lol**

I didn't see the part about you asking about the vest lol. But yes, the vest fits great, ill try to take a picture of that shortly. Sorry for the confusions, I thought you were asking about the undersuit.

Thank you very much for the photos. I was indeed asking for a picture of the undersuit, but a picture of the vest might be helpful as well. THat suit fits you like a glove! Nice! Based off the photos and what you told me your measurements were, I think a medium would fit me pretty well. Our measurements are pretty similar, except that I somehow have 15lbs on you. I dont know where though, as we have the same waist and chest measurements. Once again, youve been a great help. Thank you.

You just might have more muscle where I have more fat lol. I'm built like a large toddler lol. Well not really but body dysmorphia has me always feeling like that lol. Yeah man, medium is a great fit if your my size, everything except the neck of the flight suit is a little tight, but for the money I can buy a new custom neck seal for 30 bucks and still have spent less.

Here are a few pics of the vest, my fiancé was home so she was able to zip me up lol. Fits great!

I'm not great at posting updates, but I have been making some progress lately.

Big thanks to stormtrooperguy and RafalFett for their models.

Jetpack is almost ready for assembly as well, I just need to add the attachment points for the harness before buttoning it up.

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a Hasbro EE-3 and a Black Series helmet, so I guess my build has officially begun.

Luckily I should have until Halloween 2021 (at the earliest) to finish this. I'm looking for 501st or anything, just a budget Halloween-level costume that'll go well with the helmet quality-wise.

I realize acquiring individual pieces can be time consuming and costly, so I've been contemplating getting a costume and modifying it from there.

I'm sure you've seen these before:

AliExpress Boba Fett Costume / eBay Boba Fett Costume for ~$150
Rubie's Supreme Edition Boba Fett Costume for ~$700 to $1,000

Now, I think the Rubie's isn't worth anywhere near $700+, so my question is what price do you think these are worth? I found one locally that was used once. Not sure if it includes the helmet and jetpack.

The AliExpress/eBay one looks decent IMO, but I'd probably have to redo the yellow shoulder pieces, gauntlets, and knee guards. I'd also have to make a jetpack for it. Has anyone purchased this?

Thanks!
Message me. I did the same thing you plan on doing and it turned out fantastic. This is what my homemade ESB Boba Fett costume currently looks like. I built from scratch my EE-3, knee armor, gauntlets, cape, girth belt, and boots with spikes. I still have to weather the flight suit, make a sidearm (Pulce) gun/holster, add the shin tools, and add the flamethrower and gauntlet rocket assemblies, then it'll be a done deal for me....until the next upgrade...electronics

This is my first attempt with a blue Red Kap pair of coveralls.
It looked like a unique version of his costume to me, but I upgraded to the more screen accurate flight suit.
