Well, I procrastinated with my ori'vod and we played 360 most of the day, so I only got one layer of bondo on the helmet. EASIEST THING IVE EVERY DONE IN MY LIFE!!! Honestly, all you do is slap it on there and it dries! Amazing. Such a weird substance: looks like paint, feels like dense pudding.

Pics I promised earlier of the final inside FG coat:

My friend is behind the Jango helmet, btw.

More progress to happen tomorrow!

WOAH!!!! What museum is that?!?! cause that is insanly epic.. and most of those people showing it little attention *tisk tisk*

Good progress. I never really experienced bondo, i used bondo glass.. bondo looks easier

bondo spreads a LOT easier , but bondoglass is stronger... however, she did double glass the interior so it will be strong.

im going to have to glass the interior of mine yet unless you think bondo glassing the outside and inside should do it

entirely...
When I get to work on my Dark Jedi Mando, I plan on getting it perfect so I can attempt to cast it.

Putting the bondo on is easy, sanding it smooth, now that's another matter :)

That sad truth had to come out eventually. Oh well, I've got some time to spare for sanding.

As for progress:

Hope to get more bondo on that bucket tomorrow if I don't have to finish mowing the neighbors lawn...

QUESTION: What visor should I buy that'll fit?

no matter how tempting it is to cut out the visor... DONT! you'll warp the bucket, only cut it when everything is dry and HARD.

By the way, nice work, keep it up ;)

'nother tip for you ord'ika, when I was making mine, I made a copies of the T all the way round to the back, I popped them onto the model to define the tusks and brow away from the dome and the visor part.

Actually, I did it the hard way, made a ring for the brow to ensure it was symmetrical aroung and then made the tusk part, using car body filler to get rid of the gaps, but I'm sure you'd be able to get a decent templates from the WOF drawings.

It did cause me a few problems from casting, but it looks more defined I feel, I just fill the internal gap with resin mud so the builder has something to stick their screws into :)

Yeah, I won't be cutting out the visor any time soon, don't worry. But for the actual visor, should I buy on online or do a welders mask?

Progress: The dome is done!

My buy'ce is getting pretty heavy. Luckily, God made necks very strong. ;) Question, though: is better to keep going with bondo or can I resin the rest?

thats how I do mine Saz.
I cut cardboard to make the raised band and visor/tusks. I make sure that on my first bondo layer I leave those areas clean so I can put the coarboard in place (see my current mini bucket)

I've heard its just as good to buy a welders mask.. thats what i plan to do. Looks Good Ord'ika!! I Glassed my whole helmet and its pretty heavy

Sanding will remove some of that eventually

Okedokey, the visor is on its way! And I'll be putting together that "band" thingy around the visor together today and slapping that on.
