My first build, going ESB!

Thanks!

On a side note - Can anyone make a recommendation on boots? I'm currently having trouble deciding on getting either the MoW 2015 runs or the CABoots version. Besides the major difference of the black center line, the front of the MoW boots appear to be more squared whereas the CABoots appear to be more rounded.

Which do you all prefer as being comfortable wearing/standing in for long periods of time, and screen accuracy?
I also have them broke in and the toe box gets less squared after a while

Final coat of primer for the codpiece has been put down, as well as the sanding. I was also able to put down the first coat of silver. Will be putting down the second coat this weekend. I also remembered that my dad did some leatherworking a few years back as a hobby. So I'll see if I can commission him to make an ammo belt for me using batninja's guide (http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f20/batninjas-ammo-pouch-tutorial-8797/).

Plans for the weekend:
1) Put down second coat of silver on the codpiece.
2) Finish trimming and cleaning up the knees, and hopefully spray down some primer.
3) Get measured for my ammo belt.

Updated the links, hope it's working now.

So, finished cleaning and trimming the knees and sprayed a few coats of primer. Will more than likely keep these on hold until I can get a set of knee darts to figure out how I'll be attaching them. Also got some preliminary pictures for my ammo pouches.

Pre-stain, pre-stitch phase.

Hey all,

Just need some quick input/advice. So I tried outlining the cutouts for where the chest display would go, but have two options:

Option 1: Going based on the specs and measurements provided by Rafal, it looks slightly angled? I think it may have to do with the curves on the the armor.

Option 2: Slightly deviating from the measurements, I eyeballed the lines to make it look straighter. I still used the same measure for the portions I would need to cut out.

Thanks for all the input, everyone!

Just got my cape and wookie braids from woodman yesterday.

And I also did some painting. I was able to get the second layer of paint done for the center diamond and right chest piece. Hoping to get the second layer down for the shoulders tomorrow afternoon!

Layer 3 is done for the right chest piece. This will be on hold until all of the other pieces are ready for the final green layer. Will be printing up the shoulder stencils tonight, and hopefully put down layer 2 on those.

Did a mix of Humbrol 78 and 79 (2:1) to get it a bit darker/grayer. In other news, just put in an order for my MoW boots and gauntlets. So I'm hoping to at least get those by this weekend so I can start on the boots.

Second layer down for the right shoulder bell and codpiece. Should have the last layer down for the right shoulder, and start on the left shoulder tomorrow afternoon. I also got my MoW stuff, so hoping I can get my boots fully weathered and done by the end of the weekend.

Looking great so far, enjoy your build.
Thanks!

Boots done-ish. Need to scuff it up tomorrow when the paints fully dried, and touch up some of the clean areas. Didn't have a chance to finish up my shoulders, but getting all my stencil lines down tonight so I can start painting first thing in the morning.

In other news, has anyone been in contact with @JodoKast89 recently? I've been trying to get a hold of Dakota for the past few weeks, but no responses :( I'm assuming they've been extremely busy.

Hi Stilgarr85,

Nice job you are doing. I am starting with my ESB costume too. I am going to paint my chest armor but I have one doubt. What base color did you use for the right chest plate? Is it Primer Gray? or Metal Primer?. I have Primer Grey, Silver Metallic and the Hunt Club Green for the first 3 layers I guess. I just order the SP Lark Dark Grey ( I am following the great Rafalfett stencils .http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f20/boba-fett-esb-armor-stencils-42095/) But I am confused with the Metal Base. I see a kind of metal in your firs Right Chest Plate Image, but kind of Primer Grey on the other ones.

Thanks.

@Fettsledu - Yea, I noticed that as well. I am assuming your "Primer Grey" is the "Base Metal" referenced in the stencil. Not including the base coat (primer), I opted to go with silver (first layer, Humbrol 11), grey (second layer, Humbrol 79), then a mix of green/grey (third layer, Humbrol 78+79). My plan is to do a black wash after my emblem is painted to dull the silver a bit.
Also, because I'm using an airbrush I've been using the stencils @Jigglenomicon created using Rafal's templates (http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f23/...tj-helmet-esb-armor-49071/?highlight=shoulder)

Stilgarr85 Awesome !!! I am going to use airbrush too, first work on those ever so, not sure how it will be hahahahah. In fact, my Primer Gray was indeed the base coat (primer) so I guess I need to move things around. Thanks for responding. Keep updating us on the develop of the costume. I will start by trimming my armor and I think I will be doing the MoW Boots first while I get all right colors for my armor.
