Slave1Pirate's Aluminum ROTJ Boba Fett Build PIC HEAVY

So today I welded alot. The metal was thin and keeping it cool proved to be difficult but the shape started to make itself evident. The excitement grows!

My first jetpack I made of wood some 35 years ago was pretty good although heavy and I made it with large dovetails on the inside of the pack with corresponding holes on the back armor so that I could easily put in on/off by myself. Gravity held it on and it worked like a charm. I won $500 at a Halloween costume contest so I was quit pleased. Literally every single person at the place wanted pictures with me. Back before comic-cons it was the only time of year you could showcase your passions/skills.

That is freakin cool. About 25 years ago i made my 1st outfit out of sheet metal clad cardboard. I didnt win anything haha
You had fun though…am I right ? It’s cool that people want to make these super screen accurate costumes, but for me, if people know the character I’m portraying…I did my job. At the end of the day, as long as I’m satisfied …that’s all that matters.

Well i am super detail oriented. The fact that there is a list i can follow to get close works for me lol

So I just got back to the project. I decided to begin working on the helmet. I still haven't been able to dial in the welder just right with this 14 G aluminum. So I slaved all day on this thing and realized my scaling was off. It didn't scale all peices evenly. So I think. I need yalls opinion....is this fett helmet too tall? To me it looks more like Djinn's helmet not Fett's. I'm ready to scrap it.

After the last frustration of building a helmet that was scaled incorrectly, this weekend I decided to recut everything along with some armor pieces that I hadn't yet cut out. Here are some photos of the right knee I created today. It needs some minor adjustment and welding of the seams not to mention the F and knee rocket ports. For the dent I used a 5/8 aluminum rod machined to a round tip and hammered into a die block AFTER I shaped the knee. I then went back in a made some readjustments with the hammer to restraighten my previous shaping.
Edit: Added F before calling it quits.

That is outstanding! I've often thought about what kind of endeavor it would be to have this all done in Titanium. Titanium as you probably know is just as strong as steel, but weighs 45% less. That said, gonna guess that it is much more expensive too. One day.....when I win the lottery - Hahaha!
:p

The other factor is.....comfort while wearing it.

Hello all! I've finally got the plasma cutter doing wonders and cut out many pieces today! Take a look!
The abdomen panel has too hard of a crease in the middle but I can reshape that better. I had to drop what I was doing to go pick up one of my daughters so, next time!

Lookin' great Slave1Pirate117 !
Once you get it all dialed in and polished, you'll wanna weld on some threaded rod and go for the grommet method of install onto the Flak Vest! I used to use flat washers, lock washers and a nut on mine, but have since swapped all that out to a metal nylon locking nut. which has those rounded edges for added comfort.

Keep up this awesome work!

Yessir that was the plan. I have Arkady's soft parts already and planned on using nylon lock nuts. Thanks for the encouragement!
