Pinkflamingos6's Post Sarlacc Build

Bit of an update!

Unfortunately I think I'm in the market for a new vest  this one I nice but has some flaws that'll be hard to overlook. The length and stitching are easy fixes, but I found that the section by the collar armor is too long. Hopefully you can see in the pictures:

The vertical stitches run down too far past the shoulder tabs. It's still a really nice vest, but this is too big of a flaw In my opinion and is too hard to fix for the cost of a new vest.

Anyways, I was able to knock out a good bit of work on some of my armor pieces in the meantime. I first primed all my pieces with tamiya surface primer then I sketched out where I wanted to add the texture with a pencil.

Then I went around each piece with liquid masking and tape to mask off the smooth areas.

I then sprayed the pieces with the rustoleum texture paint shown in a previous post. Huge shout out to BH-51512 or Neo Fett for recommendations! Once the paint dried I went around de masking everything which took quite a bit of time lol. The results:

I then gave all the pieces a coat of rustoleum aluminum paint and now is where the magic starts to show. You can see the transition between smooth and the texture.

I then re masked all the pieces with the liquid masking and used the existing texture as a guide. I then painted the chest plates with tamiya deep green.

I still need to go around and clean up/blend a lot of the edges and add all the other paint chips but I'm pretty happy with how it is coming along.

Looking great! I loved doing the Post-Sarlacc and Boba Fresh versions because of that underlying texture. I actually used wood putty stippled on in some areas to really get that underlying damage to stand out. I think your approach is more accurate to the look in the show. Excited to see continued progress.

I was thinking about going the wood filler/bondo route, but I think the texture paint has a little bit more flex to it. Plus you get some bubbles/blistering effects with the paint.

And I think I'm gonna take a trick from your build and use a sponge to get that random chipping!

Was able to get the chest armor all finished up. I used Tamiya XF4 and testors metallic silver in addition to the tamiya deep green that was used as the base coat.

I used a combination of small detail brushes, artist sponges, and toothpicks to achieve the final look.

Here's the final results after clear coating and installing the chest display.

Chest decal by ShortFuse and chest display by Westabyelectronics on etsy. For the red film on the display I used red lighting film from Amazon.

Up next is the shoulders and the knee piece!

Got working on the gauntlets and figured I'd do the left one first since it appears to be the easier of the two. I did the usual process I've been doing so far. Prime, mask, texture spray, remove masking, spray silver, mask, paint base color, remove masking, and then do the final paintwork and weathering.

Here's the gauntlet before the final paintwork and weathering. The gauntlet was painted using rustoleum claret wine.

And the finished gauntlet:

The gauntlet laser is MCR's ultralite laser and I used his flamethrower nozzles too. Really happy with how this NeoFett gauntlet came out. Gonna start on the right one soon after a little break from masking lol

Soft parts also came in this weekend. I ordered a shirt with attached neck cowl, pants, sash, girth belt, and gaiters from GreylonesPlace over on etsy. The clothes are made from a silk noil material to match the look from the show. The boot gaiters are made from a black leather.

Overall very happy with how everything came out, all pieces are of quality construction and look the part. I would recommend her goods to anybody doing a post sarlacc or repaint Fett.

Apologies for the messy hair but here's some pics of the parts with what I got so far with the black series helmet for reference.
