Hello all!

While my ROTJ build is currently on hold for a little while, I have to say that I miss the hobby. After attending New York Comic Con this past October and seeing some really awesome costumes, it made me want to get back into it.

My main goal for this costume right now is just for fun. Out of all the newer Boba costumes, I have to say that the post sarlacc one is my favorite. I really like the mix of old and new parts of this costume and I think it'll be an interesting build.

While this build is for fun, I will be following along with the mandalorian mercs CRL and the 501st CRL draft. I already know that I'll be making some stylized choices and not everything will be 100% true to the show, but that's the way I want to do some things.

I've pretty much got all the pieces for this build accounted for. Just waiting on some orders but in the meantime I'll be starting work with what I've got so far.

I also have to give a huge huge thanks to BH-51512 or Neo Fett! He's helped me so much in getting this build going. Between vendor recommendations and his site, How to Boba, he's been a really great help!

First off, I got a pair of the Nortiv 8 boots off of Amazon. Unfortunately I wasn't able to order the slip on version, so I ended up with the zipper pair.

Next up the gloves. These are the Patrol X gloves purchased on Amazon thru Stompers Gloves. I ordered a pair of the chestnut gloves true to size, and a pair of black gloves one size larger. I cut the finger tips off of the black pair and wear them on top of the chestnut gloves. I think in the future I may cut the black gloves a little shorter.

For the armor, I went with the Post sarlacc Fett/Cobb Vanth armor kit from Neo Fett. This is a great set with all the pieces I needed, the armor is .060 thick ABS. I was able to get all the pieces trimmed and cleaned up this weekend.

And for the jetpack I went with a 7CS post sarlacc kit. A beautiful kit from Darth Voorhees and I can't wait to start working on it.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

For the blaster on this build I went with a resin printed MK V from Kaz Ryder over at GPF Leather/KRTEK.PROPS. He came highly recommended to me by Neo Fett and I was not disappointed at all.

Unfortunately, the postal service strikes again and the scope broke off during shipping.

Kaz was a huge help in getting everything sorted out. After going back and forth on possible repairs, he was able to print a custom scope piece for me for the repair scope.

To make the scope more durable, I decided to make the forward part of the scope from a piece of 1/2" steel pipe I had and connect that to the custom printed rear portion of the scope.

To connect the 2 pieces I used a 3/8" aluminum rod with a wire spring insert that I made to fit the pipe.

I then epoxied everything together and sanded where the pipe and resin mated up for a smooth transition.

I then drilled a pilot hole and wet installed the scope to the scope block with epoxy and a countersunk wood screw.

While not being perfect, I think the repair came out pretty good and should stand up to being drawn and holstered a lot better now.

I also got in a pair of rubber hand plates from Wasted Fett. They will need some cleaning up before they get attached to the outer black glove. I'm still debating on how I want to attach them. I'm either going to go with velcro or glue them to the glove. I did read that some people used magnets to attach them.

And lastly, I've been figuring out how I want to attach my jetpack for this build. One of my first ideas was to use a keyhole system that I saw on the newer BoBF pack.

I really wanted the pack to be secure and be able to come off and on as easily as possible. I'm still toying with this idea but I think I'm on the right track.

I decided I want to make the pack the female end so I cut out the keyholes. I will be reinforcing these with aluminum plates in the future.

I then drilled holes on the backplate to match up with the keyholes and accept the male end. I'm still deciding on how I want to make the pegs, but now I'm pretty happy with these T nuts I found at Lowe's.

I don't plan on keeping the pegs bolted onto the backplate, but for now it does the trick. I think when I get my vest, I will sew 2 straps to go over the shoulders and the pegs will be mounted on them, then go through the backplate to accept the jetpack.

I'm also pretty happy with where the pack sits in relation to the backplate as the jetpack sits much lower on this version.

Happy to say that my cartridge belt and holster came in today from Delta Leather Works and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. Amazing quality and attention to detail as always!

And it's a great fit for my blaster as well!

Got the jetpack greeblies painted up and ready for installation. The beacon and stabilizer are from QuestDesignCanada and the push button and XLR port are from eBay thanks to Irongladiator help on his jetpack greeblies thread. The exhaust vent is from MCR and I'd like to incorporate it into this build.

I was able to fabricate the doublers for the jetpack from aluminum sheet metal. The inside parts are from a thicker sheet and the outer parts are from a thinner sheet of aluminum.

These will then be installed onto the jetpack as such:

The key slots were made undersize and will be opened to the final size once I have everything ready to go.

I was also able to fabricate the brackets that will secure the peg hardware onto the seat belt strap material that I will be sewing onto the inside of the flak vest.

Each strap will need 2 plates, one on each side of the strap. These will support the carriage bolt that will be used to mount the jetpack. I created a mock setup with some extra seat belt webbing.

These straps will go under the backplate and the T nuts will secure the backplate to the back of the vest.

The plan is once the backplate is secured with the T nuts to the straps/vest, the jetpack should be able to go on as easy as hanging a picture on the wall.

All the jetpack hardware and components are still a WIP and will be tweaked to the final setup once I have the vest and I'm happy with how everything fits and functions. But for now, I'm pretty happy with how everything has been going so far.

While I'm trying to get everything as perfect as I can, I'm allowing some "slack/slop" in how the jetpack hangs and how it sits on the costume. This is to kind of replicate the overall feeling of the costume if that makes sense lol.

I hope everyone had a great holiday this year! Santa was good to me this year with a fresh set of socks and hand towels!

I've been chipping away at this build little by little trying to get as much as I can ready for the texture and paint treatment.

Got the one knee piece ready to go. I really like the resin block insert for the knee that was included in the Neo Fett armor set. I drilled and tapped the holes in the block to accommodate bolts that would secure my QuestDesignCanada hardware to the knee.

This block will be glued to the inside of the knee and I'll be able to screw the dart launchers in after painting.

And with the launchers screwed in. Unfortunately this knee won't see too much daylight due to the sash that covers it.

For the gauntlets I went with a set of ROTJ gauntlet from Neo Fett's new run. Theses are a great kit and I've been enjoying working on them. I would totally recommend them to anybody who's in the market! A lot of great attention to detail!

For mine I've opted to go the double hinged clam shell method. On the left gauntlet I used a section of piano hinge glued to the inside and a set of larger hinges on the outside.

The outer hinges are bolted on and the hardware is hidden in the flamethrower box.

And I fabricated a pin from a metal coat hanger to secure the gauntlet closed. The loop on the end will definitely help pushing and pulling the pin and tucks away nicely inside.

And the gauntlet almost ready for paint:

To hold the bottom part of the flamethrower box in place I went with the magnet method, same as my last build. It keeps everything in place nicely and allows for easy access to future updates/electronics.

Moving onto the right gauntlet, I went a similar route with a piano hinge on the inside and a set of 3D printed gauntlet latches from AprilStorm's files on thingiverse.com.

The lower hinge sections are glued in place while the upper sections will be screwed into the Whipcord housing.

I also made a coat hanger pin to hold the top and bottom shells together.

I just need to do some filling and sanding to the plug block and a few other details and it'll be ready to go.

I also picked up a new workshop buddy on ebay...

Was also able to wet sand the armor plates to help with paint adhesion.

Well for my left, I had it with a simple magnet closure, but since I've been climbing as a hobby my forearms have gotten bigger and the armor has a tendency to pop off. So I went in and glued elastic to one side of it and added another pair of magnets but it still doesn't want to stay closed. My shirt keeps getting pinched in the way and when I can get it closed, I can still flex it open pretty easily.

Little but of an update, now that I'm nearing the painting stage. I was able to purchase a few spare reject armor pieces to practice some different techniques on.

First I gave the piece a coat of primer then sketched out where I wanted to add heavy texture to areas that were mostly still painted. I then masked with liquid latex and sprayed the texture paint.

I then removed the masking and painted the piece silver.

Before painting the green, I misted the whole piece with water and sprinkled on coarse kosher salt to the areas to remain silver.

Once the water dried I then sprayed the piece the main green color. Then removed all the salt once the paint was dry.

I'm kind of happy how this turned out. Most I'm still thinking about ways to improve the process and finished look. Still some more practice and experimenting to do.

Little bit of an update:

Got my gloves all finished up with the hand plates. I decided to go the velcro route. I used heavy duty self adhesive velcro strips I got off Amazon. Stuck the fuzzy side to the gloves and it seems to be working well. I placed the left handed plate a little more inward so it doesn't knock into the flamethrower box and nozzles too much.

Was also able to finish up painting the blaster as well. I painted the whole blaster black, then masked off the handle and rear portion. Sprayed a mix of gold, steel, and dark gray paint.

Then I gave it a few washes and misting to darken the color. Then painted the greeblies and gave everything a flat clear coat. I'm pretty happy with it as a Prop blaster for now.

And I've just about got all the armor except the helmet and back plate primed and ready for paint.

Looking awesome! Love the salt idea. I ended up masking the large silver areas, painting the green and then using a textured sponge with the silver to distress the more subtle areas. Really similar result to the salt idea. Really cool!

Got my vest in the other day from kohienterprises on etsy. Vest is of very good quality with a very quick turnaround time. It will require some modifications such as shortening the vest by an inch or two and removal of a row or two of the diagonal stitching.

I was able to attach the chest armor using the tie tack pin method, definitely going to use this method for this build.

I still want to add more tacks to the plates, but will probably do so once the vest is trimmed.
