NEW BOBA FETT ROTJ BUILD

I actually built some thick cardboard boxes for the pouches, but was told they looked too perfectly squared. I then opt’d for the foam for its flexibility to be formed.

I’ll have to stop at Hobby Lobby and see what they have. The weather where I’m at has been pretty lousy lately (lots of snow) so not ideal for driving. And, my nearest Hobby Lobby is about a 20 minute drive. I’m also currently in the process of looking for ROTJ helmet colors, rattle cans of course. From what I’ve seen from most ROTJ Hero Fett’s, the majority of the helmet looks like a different color green then the body armor. The back panels of the helmet seem to be more of the armor color though so I’m currently brainstorming what I want to do as far as colors go.

2/21 - Knees are almost done! Just have to add some weathering but here they are mostly completed. Also got most of the back plate done, just have to add weathering to that along with my jet pack thrusters.

2/23 - Here is my completed knees and jet pack thrusters! I hit the knees with a wool wire brush to dull out the gloss a bit. I also started some work on my jet pack. The blue I used was also a gloss so I’ve already started using the wool wire brush to dull out the gloss.
I opted to use a wool wire brush cause I did hear some negative experiences with dullcote usage on different types of paint.

2/25 - started the white on my jet pack! For anyone who’s wondering, I am using rattle cans for this entire build so if anyone ever needs colors I can let you know! Anyways, I also bought some craft foam to fill the pockets of my flight suit and hip pouches. I think the shape is pretty good, it doesn’t look to defined in shape. It sure was a messy process cutting the foam to size. Lucky for me, the foam I bought came as a square so I bought 2 and basically cut them in half to get the 4 pieces I needed.

Gotcha! Leaves me wondering if mine are incorrect then. Cause unless I'm mistaken the Thrusters shouldn't have anything on the backsides of em'. To be honest I didn't do any kind of research on the backside of the Jetpack. But here is what mine looks like....

But my Front I think looks good....

Hey man, I'm starting on my jet pack this week, I have all my colours, mostly Tamiya and Rustoleum, I'm wondering though, what colour did you use for the sligth red on the missile?

Thanks

Hey! I haven’t done my missile just yet but I believe Iron left a bunch of paint colors he used on his build on page 4 of this thread, including the jet pack missile.

Hey ya Donavon,
I used Vallejo's Transparent Red. I started with Tamiya's X-11 Silver base and then "Humbrol's Maskol" (Liquid Masking) and them misted the Transparent Red on. If memory serves I found it to be a bit too pink and added in a drop or two of solid red (Vallejo 70.926) Mixed it in and once I had it resprayed, I thought looked great! I'm not big into mixing any paints, but this worked great and was supper happy with my results.

3/6 - Update! So Its been awhile, I just started a new job last Monday so Boba had to be out on the back burner for a little. Anyways, I decided to do another suit up with some pieces that I had finished (knees, backplate, shoulders, and cape). Obviously, there’s still plenty to do including the helmet and jet pack plus a few other smaller details (hoses, Boba thong, etc). This is what it looks like so far!

1/19 - Here we go! The painting process has begun! My chest display should be in tomorrow, so excited for that!
Hi there. Are you happy with the colour, the reason i ask is im at a similar stage and the spray cans i had made up from a code look very grey and im considering trying to match it by eye instead.

Hi there! I am satisfied with the colors yes. I used Hunt Club Green for my green parts and I am very pleased with the way it turned out. I have some photos of in my latest update if you want to check them out to get an idea! I’m happy with my yellows and reds as well, jet pack is still WIP!

Thats cool, its just your first pics looked exactly same grey/green as the cans i got today and ive been mentally debating it all afternoon. Hunt club green sounds good, ill try that. Thanks.

Hunt club green seems to be the preferred rattle can color. You could always use the hunt club green and spruce green or Spanish Moss and alternate spraying them on. I just went with straight hunt club green

Ha. Im just searching Hunt Club Green as your message came through. The guy i used seems to only recognize RAL colours so im just comparing them.

Got it, I’m happy with my color so I would recommend! I was really particular at first so I was getting annoyed trying to get exact colors. I tried Montana acrylic spray cans first, didn’t care for them. Finally found hunt club green that I’ve seen other Fett’s used so I went with that. I have an airbrush as well and I know there’s way more color selections there so you could get even closer but they’re expensive so I went with rattle cans to save some cash
