Jango Shin Armor Attachment Issues?

I've had my completed armor and been trooping in it for years. However, the bane of my existence in this suit is the shin armor. It continues to pop off, not fit well because of the boots, etc...curious what you other Jangos are doing to keep these in place? I currently use snaps with elastic straps with mixed results.

mine are snap straps my suit has the button holes in the legs and i had a piece of velcro sewn on my suit and a piece stuck to the shin guard
