Girth Belt Question for level 2 cert

Do you have to use nylon webbing as the reference pic shows for level 2 cert? The guideline states "Girth Belt is secured using the accurate strapping method seen in visual references." The image looks like it is nylon webbing. I'd like to use leather but wan't level 2 cert over my own preference. Thanks for any advice!
