Fiberglass Repair Help...PLEASE!

Brothers & Sisters - I desperately need your help. While waiting for some parts to arrive to finish my Jango, I decided to jump at the chance to upgrade the armor on my Vader. To get to the point, I heard the USPS Delivery Person 'SLAM' the box on my porch, and I was several rooms away! The armor was packed really well, yet this still happened...



Instead of getting terribly infuriated, I look at this as an opportunity to gain some new skills. I have definitely learned some new things with my Jango, but I have not had to repair fiberglass. Here are my questions:

1. Is resin used independently, or does it have to be used with the fiberglass strips/sheets?
2. Based on the pictures, if resin CAN be used alone, will it work for this repair, or do I need the fiberglass as well?
3. Should I ditch the fiberglass & resin route and use something entirely different?

Any help and/or guidance is greatly appreciated!

Ok is it fiberglass construction ?
If so , youl need laminating resin (also known as fiber glass resin) , a catalyst and fiber glass choped weave cloth (I will not use the tape like strips as its not really that good ) though for this it would do,, You may find a fiber glass repair kit that hass all this ,
first sand down the area (creat a key) you intent to lay the cloth , thios is so the resin has some thing to bond to , then mix a small amount of resin and catalyst(if your in a cold clymate add more then the directions say but noit to much , then brush it on the area let some get in to the crack so it bonds the sides together, let it go of , till it gets tacky to touch then lay some of the fiber cloth (just one strip) over the crack the tacky resin will hold in place if you do it at the right time ,
mix up some more resin and catalyst, then brush it over the cloth , let it go of some what then repeat , after that you may get sharp barbs , sand them down and brush on some more resin , ,

you can add more layers if you want butr that should do ,

though if its just a polly plastic just use CA glue (super glue)

BGH - Thanks for the reply and the guidance. Yes, it's fiberglass; Portumac's EPIII Chest Armor. I will look for an actual fiberglass repair kit that comes with everything mentioned. Thank you again!
