Curving works for Sintra, but this somewhat works like the globe, globes are accurate, but maps are not becuase of the distortion when a round object is made flat. Or visa-versa.

You could try getting an already vacuformed mannequin torso (generic female form, one sided plastic), drawing out the armor sections on the plastic, and cutting the way you want it. Might be worth 15 bucks to see if it's usable.
