Is the visor in front of the helmet and inset over the front piece or is the front cut out nd the visor put in from behind?

The visor is just a piece of clear plastic with dark limousine window tint. I've never been able to cut out the visor area on the vinyl buckets and install a visor inside the helmet without it making the shape get a little wonky. I know it's the cheap way. I'm sorry.
