Death Watch Deathwatch Jetpack Project

Applied a couple coats of Rustoleum silver metallic paint to see the final surface. It works nicely in smoothing everything out and providing a sealed surface for molding. Will now have to give it 4-5 days to fully cure before moving on to the final stage of creating the mold. Can’t wait for this project to be done!

Those who may want to make a high quality jetpack mold for themselves someday may find this interesting. It took a bit longer to finally find the time, but I will be completing it this week, with no exceptions. First step of a 3-piece jetpack mold...

Looking forward to seeing this as you progress with it. Always like seeing your threads, I learn a lot !! Thanks !!

Well looks like a round of the flu in the family and the holiday was enough to halt the project. So today I was finally able to resume. Decided on a 3/4” thick silicone jacket to make this mold very durable for what will hopefully result in a higher cast yield, even though it means using more silicone. In hindsight I wish I would have tried 5/8” thickness, however, I know from prior experience 1/2” would have been too thin with this process of first making the fiberglass shell. Fingers crossed!

Straight out of the mold with only a little trimming of flashing along the edges. I always try to find a happy medium between being lightweight yet durable for maximum comfortability when wearing. I’m happy with the weight, and plan to make most of the attachment pieces foam filled hollow rotocast copies to further this idea. Now off to finish the attachment piece molds...

Haha, I would consider doing a very limited run, but could only commit to shipping out one a month due to my current workload.

Here are a few more complete pics using FettSeven’s exhausts as stand-ins. The cones and center base were filled with expanding foam to help control the weight, before being capped with a thin layer of resin. Now I’ll begin construction on the little greebly located at the bottom of the side fuselage and the CW style exhaust.

Glad to hear it and I’ll be casting his pack and parts this week/weekend. I really appreciate your amazing patience with me on seeing this project to the end.

No worries, as I said before, you can't rush quality! LOL Thank you for reviving the project!
