Brand new bucket needs help

Thank you for welcoming me into the community. I bought a fiberglass bucket from a friend. I am honing my dremel skills but know I need to fix a few dings of my doing. I have noticed the top has a small ridge in it. Is this normal or do I fill it in? Also, the vents on the back were a mess do to the casting. Are the slots supposed to be all exact? And how wide should the top notch be compared to the lower half? Thank you in advanced!
